Over You

I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
Felt if I was in way too deep
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
Long, long time ago
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I'm slowly getting closure
I guess it's really over
I'm finally getting better
And now I'm picking up the pieces
Spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
The day I thought I'd never get through
I got over you
You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say
When you slammed the front door shut
A lot of others opened up
So did my eyes, so I could see
That you never were the best for me
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
Long, long time ago
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I'm slowly getting closure
I guess it's really over
I'm finally getting better
And now I'm picking up the pieces
Spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
The day I thought I'd never get through
I got over you
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
Long, long time ago
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I'm slowly getting closure
I guess it's really over
I'm finally getting better
And now I'm picking up the pieces
Spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
Whoa, I'm putting my heart back together
Whoa, 'cause I got over you
Whoa, and I got over you
Whoa, I got over you
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through
I got over you
The song "Over You" by the Kidz Bop Kids tells the story of a relationship that has ended and the emotional journey that follows. The opening lines express disbelief at the fact that the person who tore down the singer's emotional walls was also the one to break down those same walls. The second verse details the emotional aftermath of the breakup, where the singer is left feeling lost and out of breath. Reflecting on the past, the singer realizes that they should have run away long ago, but they are now better off without their former partner.
The chorus of the song gradually increases in intensity as the singer works to overcome the heartbreak. They start to pick up the pieces, slowly gaining closure and finally getting over their ex. The final lines express a sense of triumph and newfound strength, as the singer puts their heart back together and gets over the person who once seemed so important.
Overall, "Over You" is a heartfelt and emotional track that delves into the complicated process of moving on from a past relationship. It speaks to the universal experience of heartbreak and loss, offering hope to those who are struggling to find closure.
