Beth
KISS AND ERIC CARR Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Beth I hear you calling
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are playing
And we just can't find the sound

Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't our home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone

Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

Beth I know you're lonely

And I hope you'll be alright
'Cause me and the boys will be playing all night

Overall Meaning

"Beth" is a touching ballad that echoes the feelings of countless musicians who leave their loved ones behind to go on the road. In the song, Kiss drummer Peter Criss plays the role of a musician who is torn between his passion for music and his feelings for his partner Beth. The song starts with Beth calling Peter, but he is unable to come back home because he and the rest of the band are playing music. The lyrics describe his struggle to balance his love for music and his love for his partner. Peter explains that he will come home as soon as he can and apologizes for not being able to be there for her.

As the song progresses, Peter acknowledges that Beth is feeling lonely and that he hopes she will be alright. Despite his apologies and expressions of love, the demands of the music industry keep him on the road, leaving Beth feeling empty in their home. The lyrics vividly capture the tension that many musicians face between their passion for music and the needs of their loved ones.

Overall, "Beth" is a song that portrays the heart-wrenching dynamics of many relationships in the music industry where loved ones are left waiting for a break between gigs for a chance to reconnect.

Eric Carr's version of Beth is actually very good. Peter Criss had a great voice , but you can certainty tell Eric can sing.

Frost Wazowski

@ERIC because Eric Carr was the physical embodiment of rock and roll rebellion. The man was dying of heart cancer and STILL insisted on being in the music video for "Forever" complete with a wig to hide his hair loss and frail physical state.

The warriors warrior if there ever was one.

ERIC

I actually prefer this with Eric Carr I never liked Peter Chris's voice why other do I'll never know?

Kal-El Avitt

if Eric Carr didn't die I think he'd still be in kiss. Who agrees?

Murph Talk

I had always wondered how the reunion would have gone down if Eric was alive. Could they have had both the Catman and the Fox on the tour

-The Fox-

I agree! 🦊🧡

What we must remember is that we die on ONE day. But we live on MANY.

Snotty

I agree. I think it would be cool if Eric Singer wore the Fox makeup to honor him.

I always loved the original, but Eric had an AMAZING voice and he made a great song even better. I had the pleasure of hearing him sing it live twice. I miss him
