The group's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999. Konietzko resurrected KMFDM in 2002 (Esch and Schulz declined to rejoin) on Metropolis Records, and by 2005 he had assembled a consistent line-up that included American singer Lucia Cifarelli, British guitarists Jules Hodgson and Steve White, and British drummer Andy Selway. Konietzko and Cifarelli moved back to Germany in 2007, while the rest of band stayed in the U.S. In addition to these core members, dozens of other musicians have worked with the group across its nineteen studio albums and two dozen singles, with sales totaling in excess of two million records worldwide.
Critics consider KMFDM to be one of the first bands to bring industrial music to mainstream audiences, though Konietzko refers to the band's music as "The Ultra-Heavy Beat". The band incorporates heavy metal guitar riffs, electronic music, samples, and both male and female vocals in its music, which encompasses a variety of styles including industrial rock and electronic body music (EBM). The band is fiercely political, with many of its lyrics taking stands against violence, war, and oppression. KMFDM normally tours at least once after every major release, and band members are known for their accessibility to and interaction with fans, both online and at concerts. Members, singly or working together and with other musicians, have recorded under many other names, primarily Watts' PIG, Konietzko's Excessive Force, and Esch and Schulz's Slick Idiot.

KMFDM Lyrics

I'm speaking to you but you won't ever hear me
Close to the touch but aeons away
On a distant planet on another day
I thought we were even I hoped it was cool
Your guilty pleasures made you a fool
I extended it all but you turned it to dreck
I shall not be terrorized
You will pay for all those lies
And every day's a good day to die
Fucka, fucka, die, muthafucka, bye-bye
A spewing volcano of distortion and hate
You plead and beg me to spare your fate
You evoke our friendship and the days of old
But I know a dish that's best served cold
The gleaming blade a muffled cry
You won't live to testify
I gave you it all
I let you perform
You sowed the wind now you'll reap the storm
In the coldest blood steady-handed
I take no prisoners the eagle has landed
Idiot!
The lyrics of "Every Day's A Good Day" by KMFDM express a sense of betrayal and anger towards someone who was once close to the singer. The biggest mistake the singer made was letting this person get close to them. Despite speaking to them, this person won't hear them and feels aeons away on a distant planet. The singer thought they were even and hoped everything was cool, but this person's guilty pleasures made them a fool. The singer extended their trust and help to this person, but they turned it into something worthless. The person keeps trashing the singer's name and backstabbing them. The singer declares that they will not be terrorized and that this person will pay for all the lies they have told. Finally, the singer declares that every day's a good day to die and wishes them farewell in a profane way.

The biggest mistake was to let you near me
I regret allowing you to come close to me
I'm speaking to you but you won't ever hear me
You refuse to understand me
Close to the touch but aeons away
Though we're close, we're emotionally distant
On a distant planet on another day
Our relationship is far away, unreachable and old
I thought we were even I hoped it was cool
I believed everything was fine between us
Your guilty pleasures made you a fool
Your secret indulgences exposed you for who you are
I extended it all but you turned it to dreck
I gave you everything but you ruined it all
You keep trashing my name and stabbing my back
You continuously speak ill of me behind my back
I shall not be terrorized
I won't let you scare me anymore
You will pay for all those lies
You'll face the consequences of all the lies you've told about me
And every day's a good day to die
I'd rather face death than continue dealing with you
Fucka, fucka, die, muthafucka, bye-bye
I don't care if you die, I'm done with you
A spewing volcano of distortion and hate
You're emotionally volatile, filled with anger and lies
You plead and beg me to spare your fate
You beg for mercy despite your actions
You evoke our friendship and the days of old
You try to remind me of our past friendship
But I know a dish that's best served cold
I'll get revenge when the time is right
The gleaming blade a muffled cry
You'll die a silent death by my hand
You won't live to testify
You'll die before you can speak against me
I gave you it all
I gave you everything I had
I let you perform
I trusted you with important tasks
You sowed the wind now you'll reap the storm
You'll face severe consequences because of the chaos you've caused
In the coldest blood steady-handed
I'll be calm and calculated while taking revenge
I take no prisoners the eagle has landed
I don't care who gets in my way, I'll do what I need to do
Idiot!

Really? Columbine? This album came out what, 6 years after the incident? People who are still connecting KMFDM and Columbine are fallacious fools.
@toby7059
Andy Brinkhaus Some people are interested in columbine only for Studying (Like for me, I'm studying in Behavioral Psychology and Forensics) So knowing some of these people really helps with research, others come here mostly because they want new music to listen to.
@ipwntehn0obz
I'd never have learned about KMFDM if not for columbine

While I agree, I also think they were responsible for their actions, and the responsibility to refrain from doing what they did lay on them, and not everyone else.
