KMFDM (originally Kein Mitleid Für Die Mehrheit, "loosely" translated by th… Read Full Bio ↴KMFDM (originally Kein Mitleid Für Die Mehrheit, "loosely" translated by the band as "no pity for the majority") is an industrial rock band led by German multi-instrumentalist Sascha Konietzko, who founded the group in 1984 as a performance art project in Hamburg, Germany.

The group's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999. Konietzko resurrected KMFDM in 2002 (Esch and Schulz declined to rejoin) on Metropolis Records, and by 2005 he had assembled a consistent line-up that included American singer Lucia Cifarelli, British guitarists Jules Hodgson and Steve White, and British drummer Andy Selway. Konietzko and Cifarelli moved back to Germany in 2007, while the rest of band stayed in the U.S. In addition to these core members, dozens of other musicians have worked with the group across its nineteen studio albums and two dozen singles, with sales totaling in excess of two million records worldwide.

Critics consider KMFDM to be one of the first bands to bring industrial music to mainstream audiences, though Konietzko refers to the band's music as "The Ultra-Heavy Beat". The band incorporates heavy metal guitar riffs, electronic music, samples, and both male and female vocals in its music, which encompasses a variety of styles including industrial rock and electronic body music (EBM). The band is fiercely political, with many of its lyrics taking stands against violence, war, and oppression. KMFDM normally tours at least once after every major release, and band members are known for their accessibility to and interaction with fans, both online and at concerts. Members, singly or working together and with other musicians, have recorded under many other names, primarily Watts' PIG, Konietzko's Excessive Force, and Esch and Schulz's Slick Idiot.

Symbols is the first I heard by KMFDM. It's a shame this song is often related to school massacres. I don't know if that is the reason why KMFDM won't play this song live anymore. But if you true KMFDM fans want to see some rare live footage, then search for KMFDM Live 1997 Portland. They did play Stay Bullet live. :) KMFDM forever sucks!

It’s a huge victory for the bullies if they survive while you end up in jail or committing suicide after shooting up the school, and if they die the media will spin the story to make them sound all innocent and make you the guilty one so it’s still a victory for them. Remember that Rocky Wayne Hoffschneider, the guy who bullied Eric and Dylan into wanting to go NBK, still doesn’t regret his actions to this day, and even 20 years later he hasn’t learned anything and is still getting in trouble with the police. He won, sadly. Your best option is to just wait. It gets way better after you finish school, and you might get successful and make the bullies jealous of you. That’s what will give you the best chance of winning.

@Vault that shooting also left a huge imprint on dylan’s mom. she has to cope with people constantly harassing her for being a “terrible” mother and i feel so bad for her. she broke down when she turned on the news and saw that her son was one of the shooters, and when she visited the school on that day and saw his dead body in the library. the victims who managed to survive will have to bear the trauma for the rest of their lives. it’s such a shame what happened.

I was born the same year as those guys. We all liked KMFDM, Rammstein, and messing around with shit on computers. I was always kind of a "bad kid" in school, constantly being kicked out and sent away to schools for kids like that. My senior year I got expelled and arrested for setting a locker on fire. I imagine if I had gone to the same school as them, we might have been friends. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't, haha

I thought the same thing a few years ago. Not born same as them but I was the definition of a stupid ass nerd. Id have at least known them. I was friends with a few dudes that were just like them. Overly edgy nerdy dudes that alot of the times had me thinking "Yeesh man you said what?!"

The world sucks sometimes, and it's normal to be pissed off about it. But the solution is to try to change it for the better, while healthily expressing your frustrations. Be an activist, a writer, a philosopher, an academic, or a musician like KMFDM. The worst thing you could do is submit to the system by trying to be an even more ruthless bully than the ones who have wronged you. That's what Eric and Dylan did when they killed thirteen people at random, most of whom were just ordinary kids that never even contributed to the harsh atmosphere of Columbine High School. I understand why Eric and Dylan were so angry. But the way they released it only made the world an uglier place. It was a cowardly move to abdicate the responsibility of effectively overcoming challenging or painful situations which is inherent to life.

Fan since maybe 1988? 1989? Though I was really young. My cousin was into them and Skinny Puppy, but I always liked KMFDM better. Later on I got Angst, Money, Adios, MDFMK, and I've been trying to keep up with releases since the 2000's but now with the internet, it's whatever.

Don't really care for the No True Scotsman bullshit, I just want to listen to one of my favorite bands since I was very little.
