Say My Name
KNGDAVD Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Please, oh please
I don't know what you're saying
When you look at me
Your body speaks a language
I can barely read Give it to me baby
Oh, my knees are weak
My heart rate is increasing
You tell me slow down before you hurt yourself Falling way too hard's a hazard to your health
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up,
away
Up,
away
Your games ain't fair
You tease me with your movement
I can't help but stare Any second
I could lose it
Oh my god, I swear I'm living for your motion Leave me stranded there
Swimming in your oceans
You tell me slow down before you hurt yourself Falling way too hard's a hazard to your health
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up,
away
Up,
away
You tell me slow down before you hurt yourself Falling way too hard's a hazard to your health
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up, up, and away
Oh baby when you say my name
Oh, when you say my name
Oh, when you say my, say my
Up,
away (Say my name)
Up,
away (You take me up and away)
Up,
away (Say my name)

Up,
away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of KNGDAVD's song "Say My Name" depict the sensation of being overwhelmingly attracted to someone to the point of losing control. The singer seems to struggle to understand the object of their affection and their desires for them, saying "I don't know what you're saying / When you look at me." Despite this, the body language of this person speaks to the singer, making their "knees weak" and their "heart rate... increasing." This attraction is intense, with the singer feeling as if they could lose control at any moment: "Any second / I could lose it." The object of their desire is described as teasing and playing games with them, making it even harder for them to resist: "Your games ain't fair / You tease me with your movement." The chorus repeats the idea that hearing this person say their name sends them into a state of euphoria and makes them feel as if they're skyrocketing upward: "Up, up, and away / Oh baby when you say my name / Oh, when you say my name / Oh, when you say my, say my." The song seems to caution against getting too caught up in this passion, warning that "Falling way too hard's a hazard to your health."

Overall, the lyrics of "Say My Name" depict a feeling of almost frenzied desire for someone, conveyed through metaphors of intense physical sensations and a sense of being carried away. The person the singer desires is depicted as alluring but also somewhat of a mystery, making it both exciting and frustrating. The song seems to suggest the idea that giving into this kind of passion can be dangerous, but the singer seems unable to resist nonetheless.

Season 4 is pretty consistent with first two seasons when the devil was still the devil ..not a love stricken boy.
