Halb Wesen und halb Ding
Die Mensch Maschine
Halb Wesen und halb Überding
The song "Die Mensch Maschine" by Kraftwerk is a commentary on the fusion of humans and machines. The lyrics suggest that humans are becoming more like machines, as they rely more and more on technology and gadgets to perform their daily tasks and enhance their lives. The phrase "halb Wesen und halb Ding" (half creature and half thing) reinforces this idea, indicating that humans are losing some of their natural qualities and becoming more mechanical in nature.
The second line, "halb Wesen und halb Überding" (half creature and half super-thing), implies that humans are striving to become more than just machines but rather superhuman, with the ability to transcend their physical limitations through technology. This line could also be interpreted as a warning of the potential dangers of giving machines too much control over our lives and sacrificing our own humanity in the process.
Overall, the song highlights the complex relationship between humans and technology and raises questions about the future merging of the two entities.

@leeoooooooooooo
The vocoder on this mix sounds much rawer than the english version, especially the last minute or so.... gave me the chills. totally cold, stark and slightly detuned
@employeetapesarchive8300
Lee Cox Perhaps because they're saying Maschine (pronounced Machine-Uh.)
@MuzikJunky
@@employeetapesarchive8300, the vocoder is DEFINITELY slightly detuned during the last refrain. Peace.
@ThePrion23
The German version is just superior! I guess I should try ABBA in Swedish!
@CrossCuntryFranco
@@ThePrion23 Easier said than done: ABBA almost exclusively recorded in English; they did, however, record a few of their early hits in Swedish :) If one wants to hear what an ABBA album would've been in Swedish, take a listen to Lycka , Björn and Benny's début LP.
