The band’s five members were all raised in different places before meeting and starting the band in 2006. Kate Cabebe was born and raised in Camarillo, California and began taking an interest in music as a child by taking lessons in the violin and mandolin. Cabebe began playing the drums by age 13. Katie Cecil, from North Carolina, started her venture off by acting in various roles on stage, television and film. Shelby Cobra, from Santa Clarita, California, started in music by auditioning and performing in musical theater at a young age. She began studying voice and performance at the age of 12. Sophia Melon was raised and took lesson to learn to play the bass guitar. Shae Padilla, who was raised in Lancaster, California, started playing and performing music at a young age when her brother took lessons to play the drums so he could accompany her.
The band formed in 2006 as an originally pop group. They got its start due to the band The Go-Go's taking an interest in wanting to mentor a “new all-girl teen rock band.” The band started off with four members and when they soon decided to move to a rock genre, fifth member Shelby Cobra joined the band.
KSM guest starred as Vagablond in the Take180 original series I <3 Vampires on September 11, 2009 and performed their song "Read Between The Lines" to promote their album with the same name.
The band worked with Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil on their debut album. The album is set to be released on Sept 22nd and Sept 15th on iTunes only.
The band finished out a tour to promote their music as a special guest on select dates of Demi Lovato's Summer Tour 2009, then, a few months later, already in 2010, it was announced on their Facebook and MySpace pages that it was the end of the group.

Gotta get the day planned
Get up on my feet
Places to go, people to see
Kick it at the mall
Get to rehearsal
Jam some new tunes
I gotta run, so much to do
But now I'm in a classroom twirling my hair
Just waiting for the time to pass
Stuck in....
[Chorus:]
Slow motion
Watching time go by
Minutes feel like hours
No end in sight
Slow motion
Taking over me
I don't wanna chill, how can I sit still
When I know the world is waiting
11 missed calls
Another shade of lip gloss
Record a new song
Color my hair
Answer the phone
He's askin' me out
I'll have to think about it
Now I'm running late
I gotta rush, no time to waste
I like my world spinning just a little too fast
But now I'm on the freeway doin' 15
In the middle of a traffic jam
Stuck in....
[Chorus:]
Slow motion
Watching time go by
Minutes feel like hours
No end in sight
Slow motion
Taking over me
I don't wanna chill, how can I sit still
When I know the world is waiting
Look ahead 'cause that's where you'll find me
You know I get bored easily
Too much to do to do nothing
I'm always in a rush to do something
We get all dressed up, show up at the club
The line's around the block and we're stuck in
[Chorus:]
Slow motion
Watching time go by
Minutes feel like hours
No end in sight
Slow motion
Taking over me
I don't wanna chill, how can I sit still
When I know the world is waiting
Slow motion
Watching time go by
Minutes feel like hours
No end in sight
Slow motion
Taking over me
I don't wanna chill, how can I sit still
When I'm goin' a little stir crazy
How can I slow down, I don't really know how
When I know the world is waiting
The song "Slow Motion" by KSM is about the feeling of being trapped in a slow-moving situation despite the desire to keep moving forward. The lyrics describe a day in the life of a busy teenager who is constantly on the go, with plans with their friends, rehearsals to attend, and a plethora of other activities planned. The first verse sets the scene and describes the singer's enthusiasm for the hectic pace of their life, but then the chorus kicks in, and it's clear that the singer is feeling frustrated and stuck in a moment of slow motion. The bridge of the song emphasizes the impatience of this feeling of being stuck, with the singer looking ahead and visualizing everything they want to accomplish.
While the song is certainly about feeling trapped, it is also about finding a way to keep moving forward, despite how hard that may feel at times. The repetition of the chorus gives the listener the impression that the slow-motion feeling is everywhere, but ultimately the singer is going to keep going, no matter what. The song is an ode to the frenzied rush of the teenage experience, but it also acknowledges that sometimes time moves agonizingly slow.
