2000 Miles
KT Tunstall Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He's gone 2000 miles
It's very far
The snow is falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you

The children will sing
He'll be back at christmas time

In these frozen and silent nights
Sometimes in a dream you appear
Outside under the purple sky
Diamonds in the snow sparkle
Our hearts were singing
It felt like christmastime

2000 Miles
Is very far through the snow
I'll think of you
Wherever you go

He's gone 2000 miles
It's very far
The snow is falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you

I can hear people singing
It must be christmastime

I hear people singing
It must be christmastime

A Christmas song worth playing all year round

Temibobo

This is a beautiful cover of the original Pretenders version. I love it! This song strikes the six strings in my soul extremely perfectly. One of the best Christmas songs of all time.

HopelessStrlstfan

I guess it is also a Christmas song, but actually it was written about the death of the Pretenders' 1st lead guitar player. The song writer herself has spoken about that being the subject of the song. Chrissy is singing about missing her friend, being separated from him, & I interpret the part about the children singing & he would come back at Christmas time to be Chrissy wishing such a dream could be true in the same way we believed in all the magic of Santa Claus & etc as kids, but as an adult, Chrissy knows he can't come back.
