Kacey Musgraves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Time for toys and time for cheer
I've been good, but I can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
And I want a hula hoop
I can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late
Want a plane that loops the loop
And I still want a hula hoop
I can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late
I can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late
Kacey Musgraves's song "Christmas Don't Be Late" is a delightful and catchy tune that invokes the childlike excitement of the holiday season. The song features the singer, likely a child, eagerly anticipating the arrival of Christmas and the accompanying festivities. The opening lines remind us that Christmas is a special time of year when we can put our worries aside for a while and indulge in the joy and merriment of the season. The singer expresses their anticipation for the arrival of presents, as they have been good and expect to be rewarded for their good behavior.
However, despite their enthusiasm, the singer confesses that they can't wait much longer for Christmas to arrive. They mention wanting a plane that "loops the loop" and a hula hoop, showing us that they are still very much a child, filled with wonder and innocence. The repetition of the lines "I can hardly stand the wait, please Christmas don't be late," emphasizes the singer's eagerness and desire for Christmas to arrive soon.
