Wonder Woman
Kacey Musgraves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We rarely never ever don't see eye to eye
We're going to
I can show you strong, I can fight for you
I can try to move mountains if you want me to
But, baby, I ain't Wonder Woman
Don't you know I'm only human?
And if I let you down, I don't mean to
All I need's a place to land
I don't need a Superman to win my lovin'
'Cause, baby, I ain't Wonder Woman
Bet all that gold gets heavy, weighin' on her
I wonder if it's scary, always tryin' not to get hurt
I know how it feels, it ain't easy
There's a reason why you only see it in the movies
'Cause, baby, I ain't Wonder Woman
I don't know how to lasso the truth out of you
Don't you know I'm only human?
And if I let you down, I don't mean to
All I need's a place to land
I don't need a Superman to win my lovin'
You don't know how to fly, no, mm
That's okay, neither do I
I know I ain't Wonder Woman
I don't know how to lasso the love out of you
Don't you know I'm only human?
And if I let you down, I don't mean to
All I need's a place to land
I don't need a Superman to win my lovin'
'Cause, baby, I ain't Wonder Woman
Yeah, I know I ain't Wonder Woman
The song “Wonder Woman” by Kacey Musgraves speaks about the challenges of being in a relationship, and the pressure that comes with it. The tone of the song is honest and heartfelt as the singer admits the limitations of her strength and emotional capacity. In the chorus, she sings, "I can try to move mountains if you want me to, but baby, I ain't Wonder Woman. I don't know how to lasso the love out of you." This line is particularly poignant because it represents the pressure that society puts on women to do it all, be it all, and fulfil every role flawlessly.
The song speaks to the challenges women face in trying to balance different aspects of their lives. Musgraves highlights the fact that even though women are strong and capable, they are still only human and can't do everything perfectly. The lyrics provide a sense of solace to women, as it acknowledges that it's okay to admit to our limitations and ask for help. The line, "I don't need a Superman to win my lovin'," emphasises that women deserve to be loved and accepted for who they are rather than what they can do.

It feels as like time has stopped, listening to this song. It's just, pure beauty, in my opinion. Kacey really deserves the praise the critics have been giving her. A very commendable album she's made.
