Back In Time
Kaci Brown Lyrics

I bite my pride and sincerely thank you
For what, I cannot say
Will always haunt my mind
What goes around eventually come back in time
I'll have a partial smile with sad eyes on the side
I guess to fully live we have to cry
But what goes around will eventually come back in time
Run, run, run
I run at last
You placed the cross that's on my back
When the curtains close you know that I'll be fine
What goes around will eventually come back in time
As a result of all the little things you claim to do
I bite my pride and sincerely thank you
For what, I cannot say
Will always haunt my mind
What goes around eventually come back in time
What goes around comes around
Kaci Brown's song "Back In Time" is about the consequences of our actions and how they eventually catch up to us in the future. The first two lines express gratitude towards someone who has done little things that have been helpful or impactful. There's a sense of ambiguity and mystery surrounding what the person has done, as the singer cannot say what it is that they're thankful for or what is haunting her mind. Nevertheless, the song's chorus reminds us that karma is an inevitable force of life - what goes around, comes around.
The second verse talks about coming to terms with sadness as an integral part of life, alongside happiness. Someone or something has placed a "cross" on the singer's back, which could either be symbolically or literally interpreted. Either way, it's a heavy burden to bear. When the curtains close, however, she will be fine - indicating a sense of resilience, perseverance, and hope. The song's message is that no matter what we do or don't do, as well as what we say or don't say, it all matters and will have effects that ripple through time.
