Wings
Kadhja Bonet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Idolised the ponies underneath
The saddles plain
And shoulders warring our country
Into night
Took a branch and then a ball
Found the greenest apple and carved and arrow
And foraged into the forest without fear
Spied a bird with fragile wings
Cut a piece for balance, never more these passings
Tell me why does it worry this so much?
Worry this so much
Threw a shower to set her free
Tried to bend the arrow back into embroidery
But then her motor was bright in
Needle string
Cried and tried to make her breathe
Bath the sky the bird one
Thousand birds in every tree
So I could let mother find her
Rain on me
How to be a harmless man
I only wish to understand the power in my hands
Well time will show that a one man, come
Again
Took apprentice as a slave
Even angels wish to clip their wings and make mistakes
That oh, the apples get sweeter every year
Sweeter every year
In the song WINGS, Kadhja Bonet reminisces about her childhood and the various activities she engaged in. She starts by mentioning how she played hockey and how she idolized the ponies that carried the saddles on their backs. The saddles represented the burden that the horses carried as they served their country through wars. She then talks about how she took a branch and carved an arrow using the greenest apple she could find. As she played in the forest with her arrow, she spotted a bird with fragile wings and cut a piece to balance her arrow. She wondered why seeing the bird worry so much about losing a part of her wing bothered her.
Kadhja then remembers how she tried to set the bird free by throwing a shower and bending the arrow back into embroidery but realizes that her efforts were in vain. She cries and tries to make her breathe while creating a rain to water the trees that the thousand birds might help her mother find the one she had lost. Finally, she talks about her desire to be a harmless man who understands the power in his hands and wishes to learn how to wield it without causing harm. She then takes an apprentice as a slave and acknowledges that even angels make mistakes and that everything gets better with time.
