Described as an unclassifiable mixture of experimental electronic sounds, jazzy old-school vibe, dynamic soundtrack-like soundscapes and the lead singer's near-perfect silky voice, Kaiti Kink Ensemble is a truly unique musical group from Finland. The group is formed by singer Kaiti Kink and two professional game and film composers Tapani Siirtola and Joonas Naskali.
The members of the ensemble already met at music production school in 2002 and worked together in numerous projects, but the strikingly well-defined sound was finally formed when the composers Siirtola and Naskali made the song Under the Iron Sky for the first Iron Sky film teaser in 2008, produced by Blind Spot films and made by Energia Productions. As part of the teaser, the teaser song also received over 3 million listeners and enthusiastic reception amongst the viewers on a global scale.
Inspired by their collaboration and amazing feedback from the fans, Kaiti Kink Ensemble decided to develop their music into a full scale album release. During 2011 Naskali and Siirtola started composing, recording and producing the album in their recording studio in Tampere and partially in an old countryside mansion, where cows were grazing on the backyard. During that year it became clear that the band didn't want to limit themselves into a specific predetermined genre. Instead the group wanted to fully explore different emotions and soundscapes in their first big release. As a result, their debut album Under the Iron Sky is nothing less than an outstanding collection of dynamic and fresh-sounding tracks. ”The album is a combination of smooth beauty, emotion and rougher in-your-face sound that Kink's voice masterfully blends into one ensemble”, Tapani Siirtola explains.

The lyrics of Kaiti Kink Ensemble’s song ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ capture the emotions of love, obsession and desire. In the first stanza, the singer is consumed by the heat and only able to see their lover's deep blue eyes. The intense desire to possess and ‘break into’ the object of their attention is portrayed when she dreams of acting like a thief in order to have her way.
The second stanza is even more intense as the singer asserts their readiness to follow their lover to the ‘dark side of the moon’ where they will ‘be loving you until the end of time’. The focus is on the lover's desire to be with the listener, and the line ‘All you want is to be mine’ hints at their familiarity with this desire. The lyrics create a vivid picture of the potent passion that comes with obsession and surrender in love, and how it drives the singer to that place of ultimate intensity, the dark side of the moon.
