As part of an unprecedented promotional stunt, before releasing the single, Kaizers Orchestra released the official notation and lyrics to the song, inviting unsigned talent to record their own cover version of the song, promising the winner an official release of their version on their proprietary Kaizerecords label, as well as a run as a support act for Kaizers Orchestra concerts in 2011. Over a hundred different versions were uploaded onto Urørt, a website dedicated to showcasing unknown artists, which would be meticulously judged by Ottesen and Geir Zahl.
The contest winner, moi, was announced on 27 October 2010; the same radio broadcast featured the world premiere of Kaizers Orchestra's own version of "Hjerteknuser". Subsequently, the runner-ups, rOlfFa and Asiago, were granted permission to release their own versions. This promotional campaign was later given an award for "Best Communication Strategy" at the award show Gulltaggen.
The single was officially released on 28 October 2010, claiming the #13 spot on the Norwegian singles charts, before increasing its position to #9 the following week. A music video, featuring famous Norwegian actress Ane Dahl Torp, was released shortly thereafter. It was the first Kaizers Orchestra music video since "Evig pint" to depict the story and characters spoken of in the lyrics, rather than the band portraying the story or characters in a metaphorical fashion. Additionally, the music video also makes visual references to lyrics or titles of other songs. The song would eventually become a record-breaking song for the band, achieving a #5 spot in the Norwegian radio charts.

The lyrics to "Hjerteknuser" by Kaizers Orchestra tell the story of a person who is desperately in love with someone and is trying to reconnect with them. The person sings about how they and their beloved are like two drops of water, and that they listen to the music that their loved one sang to them until they fall asleep in their arms. This person used to see nothing, but now they see everything that their loved one sees, and they wear a ring with their beloved's name on it that symbolizes that they are their "heartbreaker."
The song continues with the person wondering if their loved one exists somewhere out there and if they can feel the thoughts they are sending. The person recalls moments from their past with their loved one, like when they counted together while hiding in the bushes. They continue to question whether their loved one is out there and sends hopeful messages, hoping that they will receive a hint or a sign. The song ends with the person admitting that they do not know if their loved one is still alive or thinking about them but they will continue to wait patiently, vowing to water their plants and care for what they sow while time passes by.

You sould check the other songs about Violeta as well. There are over 30 songs from 3 albums telling you the story of a small, broken family and with this background the text has a different meaning!
In this song for example, the father (kenneth) had already abducted the daughter (violeta). Her mother (Beatrice) tries to communicate with violeta by dreams and she tell her, that Violeta is actually much more like her mother and she has to run away from the father and find her old home.
In another song (Aldri Vodka, Violeta - Never Vodka, Violetta), the father tries to get Violeta back by telling her the (truth or lie...idk) about her mother. That Beatrice became angry when she had Vodka, but drank all the time, cause she became mad otherwise.
So far investing a lot of free time to learn norwegian was worth it, just bause of this story ;)
But aside of this: Norway is a beautiful country and worth a hiking trip! Being able to talk to people in a bar is a nice side effect.

Jeg besøkte Tromso i var. Jeg har lære norsk (Bokmal, ikke Nynorsk) i to år (16 months like "av og til"). To ukeres gå og snakke har lært meg mer enn to år å sitte i hus.

(I switch back to english, cause its hard for me to type and think norsk now. I went hiking most time, but I noticed the difference hard. 50 Kroner for a coffee is double hard. I use €, so 50 sound a lot to me, much more than it is. It took a psychological thing in my head soemhow. I tried to get my hands on dried reindeer/reindeer meat but forgot to look for it :(
So...next year I may come back...maybe I sell a kidney first to be able to rent a hotel for a week ;)
