Hold My Liquor
Kanye West | www.AudioCastle.net Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can hold my liquor
But this man can't handle his weed
Dark and lonely now
On Chicago, south of town
I'm on to Indiana
I heard it in the radio now

I can't handle no liquor
But these bitches can't handle me
I can't control my niggas
And my niggas they can't control me
You say you know me, my nigga

But you really just know the old me

Bitch I'm back out my coma
Waking up on your sofa
When I park my Range Rover
Slightly scratch your corolla
Okay, I smashed your corolla
I'm hanging on a hangover
Five years we been over
Ask me why I came over
One more hit and I can own ya
One more fuck and I can own ya
One cold night in October
Pussy had me floating
Feel like Deepak Chopra
Pussy had me dead
Might call 2Pac over
Yeezy's all on your sofa
These them Red Octobers
Still ain't learn me no manners
You love me when I ain't sober
You love me when I'm hungover
Even when I blow doja
Then her auntie came over
Skinny bitch with no shoulders
Tellin' you that I'm bogus
Bitch you don't even know us
"Baby girl, he's a loner
Baby girl, he's a loner
Late night organ donor
After that he disown ya
After that he's just hopeless
Soul mates become soulless

When it's over it's over"
And bitch, I'm back out my coma

Callin' up your uncle's place

Shit's all over the place
I don't hear your phone
Ohhh I wanna phone home

I can't handle no liquor
But these bitches can't handle me

I can't control my niggas
And my niggas they can't control me
You say you know me, my nigga
But you really just know the old me

I heard you need a new fad (a new girl)
I heard you need a new stack (a new girl)
I heard you need a new phone (a new girl)
I know your 'rents ain't be home (a new girl)
Callin' up your uncle's place
Shit's all over the place

I don't hear your phone
Ohhh I wanna phone home

Overall Meaning

In the first part of the song, Kanye West talks about his ability to handle his liquor but witnesses a man struggling with his weed. He then moves on to a dark and lonely area of Chicago and decides to travel to Indiana. Here, he talks about how he can't control himself when he is drunk, how the women he is with can't handle him, and how even his friends can't control him. He addresses those who say they know him but really only know the old version of him. In the latter part of the song, he raps about waking up from his coma, feeling hungover and helpless. He talks about his wild behavior, hookups, and encounters with women, and how they don't really know him. The song seems to be about the struggles of fame, addiction, and loss of control, especially in relationships.

TheVoiceOfChaos

id go so far as to say that the fandom mentality are a lot like religion
and organized religion is a lot like a cult

christianity as a whole is a jesus fandom
but fragments within christianity (and a lot of them) resemble cults

and it does not help that actual cults use christianity and mix it with other forms of spirituality to form a cult.

there are Christians who would accept their gay brothers
and those who hold different beliefs from them
because they know that they are in this world with us
but its the Christians who want to be separate from the world that worry me.
to these people if you do not believe in the bible(jesus) you dont exist in their world
you are already dead to them.

the bible(jesus) just like anything else must pass through human interpretation.
constantly re-translated from an extremely old language
how can you expect every single human to read the same thing and understand it the same way
holy spirit?

the bible was written for its time, it still has some good spirit in it.
but it is not the only one.
Christianity isn't a cult
it is a tool used by cults
listen to your own spirit
use your own mind.

I first heard Yeezus in 2013, and I've played it for the first 8 years without really liking the album that much, its now 10 years and I'm still playing it a few times a month..

By now most people would assume I'm sick of the album but here's the thing brah... this album just keeps getting better, I'm not the kind of groupie to call him a genius because he's more than that, he's a legend

People think of Chief just for drill music but if you actually listen to his music you can find many different flows and beats he can go to. He really doesn't care he will go hard on one tract go to mumble chief then go to some lyrical shit it's crazy, then don't forget to mention Kanye in the song so it's just the goats of Chicago. Greatness.
