third bridge
Kaori Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Our good way.

Our good day.

Overall Meaning

"Third Bridge" by KAORI is a song about the confusion and anxiety that arises from the dissonance between reality and the illusions that we create for ourselves. The first verse, "Even the outdated expression 'gray sky'/ Is a clear trace that I can't handle," speaks to the difficulty of reconciling the truth with the falsehoods or fantasies we cling to. The chorus, "Created fantasy worlds/ and fiction written in scripts/ Begin to invade reality/ Even the sun that disappeared that day," suggests that our illusions might eventually take over our perception of reality completely.

The second verse delves into the idea that our facial expressions can give away the lies we tell ourselves and others. "If lying shows on your face/ Your conscious is too superficial," warns the singer. Instead, she advocates for deceiving oneself into believing one's own lies, in order to move towards a brighter future. The idea of a "good way" is repeated throughout the song, as if it is the ultimate solution to the problems of conflicting realities.

The bridge takes a turn towards a more personal struggle, with lyrical imagery of a rainy bus stop and flashing signals. The singer seeks solace in a long, sweet kiss that takes her through the "stimulating unconsciousness." The final verse urges the listener to keep searching for a way to communicate their own truth, even if it means going against the world. In this way, the song encourages listeners to reflect on their own illusions and how they might reconcile them with reality.
