Kaouding Cissoko recorded one solo CD, Kora Revolution (Palm Pictures, 1999). Produced by jazz bassist Ira Coleman, the recording featured Cissoko’s father, his nieces, Mamy and Sokhna, and his sister, Binta, on vocals.
He died on July 17th, 2003 from acute tuberculosis.

Absolutely exquisite. FYI Mandinka does not = Senegalese. Mandinka is an ethnic group found all over West Africa and this reknown kora player, Kaouding Cissoko was Mandinka, and from a long line of griots. 'Senegalese' refers to anything from Senegal, the nation, wherein there are over a dozen ethnic groups represented.
