Fronted by the iconic Karl Roy (Advent Call and P.O.T.), the band was originally made up of some of the industry's heavyweights: Nathan Azarcon (Bamboo) on bass, J-Hoon Balbuena (Kjwan) on drums, Ira Cruz (Passage and Bamboo) on rhythm guitars and the late Chico Molina on lead guitars. The band went on to release their first self-titled LP with hits songs PRAYER, PAGBABALIK NG KWAGO, VISIONS among others, in 2003 to great acclaim.
Through the years Kapatid has successfully weathered a seemingly never-ending string of trials. From the ever-evolving lineup to the untimely death of a member, the band has managed to stay on the forefront of the industry, amassing a sizeable number of "diehard" fans.
Today, Kapatid is, more than ever, a musical force to be reckoned with. Joining the inimitable Karl Roy in 2004 was veteran musician and award-winning bassist and producer Louie Talan (Razorback, Pinikpikan, Mishka Adams and the Blue Echoes, Spy and Cynthia Alexander) causing the group to reach a new level of maturity balanced perfectly by gifted young bloods guitarist Anjones Elemos and drummer Paolo Rosal
(Queso). This formula has enabled a growth in their fan base, encompassing both sides of the spectrum: long time music aficionados and the youth. More than this, Kapatid has achieved the missing component to an otherwise successful whole: stability. Proof of their explosive musical chemistry and creative genius is evident in their second album
Luha, with carrier songs DOON, PSYCHO LOVE, SUNDAY SHINING(included in PINOY BLONDE soundtrack), released in February 2006 and distributed by Sony Records.
With a solid lineup, a wealth of fresh material and a whole lot of attitude, Kapatid is once again taking the music scene by storm. Not wishing to be stagnant, their sound has evolved with the times and yet has retained the qualities, which make it Kapatid's own unique brand of music.
Four talented individuals, four different personalities but with one common passion: to create music that is original and unique, going beyond the sublime, a universal language that unites-that is Kapatid. (-G.D.L.R.)

Slow
Kapatid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I wanna take the train or the plane I don't wanna shoot it.
We crash, we burn 60 hours a minute
If this thing don′t stop, I guess I'll pop
Forgive me
Get up, slide down. What are you hiding?
Don't you know we′ll burn it slow from here until tomorrow?
Don′t you know we'll burn it slow from here until tomorrow?
Bust out the flute, the magic pipe, conjure up the things that fly
I′m skin and bone, got no home, don't pity me
The guns are out, the goblins too, so are you
Well, it′s not too late, I wanna change, deliver me...
Get up, slide down. What are you hiding?
Don't you know we′ll burn it slow from here until tomorrow?
We crash, we burn 60 hours a minute
Don't you know we'll burn it slow from here until tomorrow?
The lyrics of Kapatid's song "Slow" tell a story of someone who wants to escape the fast pace and chaos of life. The opening lines portray a feeling of exhaustion, as if the singer's eyes are about to pop out. They express a desire to escape in a peaceful way, through taking a train or plane, rather than resorting to violence ("I don't wanna shoot it"). However, the intensity of life keeps moving at an overwhelming speed, causing the singer to feel like they may "pop". They seek forgiveness for their desire to escape.
The second verse invokes imagery of burning slowly, as if time is moving at the right pace. The singer urges the listener to come out of hiding and embrace a slower pace of life. They express a desire for change and for deliverance from their current situation. The mention of a flute and magic pipe may allude to the power of music to transport the listener to a different mental space. The reference to being "skin and bone, got no home, don't pity me" adds another layer to the complexity of the singer's situation.
Overall, the lyrics of "Slow" express the desire to break free from the dizzying speed of life and find a slower, more meaningful existence. The song speaks to anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by the daily grind and longed for a simpler way of life.
