Kari Kimmel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You don't know where to go
You need something
To justify your soul
Silence is broken
Confidence is gone
Everything you're holding on to
All the people selling truths
On every corner now
The wait until the fear
Has knocked you down
All the rules are changing now
You're living in sin
Everything around you is caving in
All you're holding on to
Slipping like water through your hands
And you sing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
Ya you sing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
Far off in the distance
Somewhere you can't see
Allegiances have formed your destiny
Opposition all around
Feeding off your soul
Trying hard to swallow up you whole
And the demons all around you waiting
For you to sell your soul
They're singing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
They're singing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
Oh la la la la la
Oh la la la la la
They're singing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
They're singing
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
The song "Black" by Kari Kimmel is a powerful and relatable piece about the feeling of being lost, disconnected, and hopeless. The lyrics suggest that a person who is going through a challenging time might find themselves in darkness, unsure of what to do or where to turn. They need something to hold onto, to justify their existence, and to give them hope.
The first verse speaks to the feeling of losing confidence and coming to terms with harsh realities. Things that were once reliable and important to the person are now falling apart. The second verse speaks about the desperation of people looking to sell the solution to your pain. They wait until the fear has knocked you down - you're vulnerable and willing to try things that you never considered before. The chorus is a call back to the idea of holding onto something, anything that can give you a semblance of hope, even if the odds are against you.
The bridge brings us to the heart of the matter: a distant place where one's destiny is formed by allegiances, and opposition is all around, feeding off your soul, trying to swallow you whole. Demons surround you, and they are singing the same song repeatedly, a repetition of what you are probably singing to yourself. The repetition of La la la la reinforces the idea of how people can feel lonely, even amidst the crowd. The song concludes with a repetition of the chorus, and the feeling that the struggle continues.
