Buhr was born in Bahia, but grew up in the state of Pernambuco, where she was introduced to the the region's folk-music. She formed the band Comadre Fulozinha in 1997, which became successful in its presentation of the musical traditions of Pernambuco.

Vira sofá
Cadeira
Mesa de centro
Ou não vira nada
Vale nada
Vira vento
A todo momento
Se vira pó só
Se vira pó só
Em todo mundo dá cupim,
Vira pó só
Tanto faz se é bom
Ou é ruim
Vira pó só
Vira pó só
Vira pó
O pé da mesa
E o dono da mesa
Vira pó só
Tanto faz se é bom ou é ruim
Dá cupim
Vira pó só
Seu suor

Vira pó
The lyrics of Karina Buhr’s song Vira Pó describe how everything can eventually turn into dust, emphasizing the impermanence and transience of life. The artist uses a variety of everyday objects such as sweat, chairs, tables, and even the owner of the furniture to represent the transience of life. She equates sweat to becoming a sofa or a chair, representing the physical labor that goes into creating and building something that will eventually disintegrate into nothingness. The repetition of “vira pó só” further emphasizes the finality of this process, as everything eventually becomes mere dust. The chorus states that "everyone turns to dust", signifying the universality of this process.
Buhr's use of "dust" in her lyrics symbolizes the fleeting nature of life, which is a recurring theme in her discography. In "Vira Pó", the artist highlights the fragile and fickle nature of our existence, making her audience reflect on the importance of the present moment. Ultimately, the song's message can be interpreted as a call to live in the present, to enjoy the moments we have, and not to take anything for granted.
