The Last Stand
Karkaos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The lifeless bodies
Of the ones I tried to protect lay still
Feeding my spirit to avenge
and kill just to ease the pain

To fight for a fight
An eye for an eye
Redemption denied

Surrounded by the enemy
The reaper is getting closer

Now we will fight to the last stand
But as the battle rages on
In our hearts
We will fight within

Bloodthirsty wolves
Come to cease our land
Eradicate our souls
We stand before them
All for one and one for all

Against the wall your head will fall

Surrounded by the enemy
Death calls out our name
Surrounded by the enemy
We will never give in

Now we will fight to the last stand
But as the battle rages on

In our hearts
We will fight within

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Karkaos's "The Last Stand" paints a picture of a tragic battlefield scene where the singer's attempts to protect their allies have been futile. The bodies of the deceased lie still, and the singer is left with a desire for revenge that can only be quenched if they can cause pain and suffering to their enemies. The lyrics "To fight for a fight, An eye for an eye, Redemption denied" betray a sense of hopelessness; redemption seems impossible, and so the only recourse is to engage in a fight that is sure to be bloody and brutal.

The enemies encircle the singer, and the imagery employed in the line "The reaper is getting closer" leaves a sense of doom - death is looming over them. In spite of this, the singer refuses to give in to the enemy. The final lines of the chorus are a testament to their resilience: "But as the battle rages on, In our hearts, We will fight within."

The song seems to be an invitation to fight against impossible odds, to always choose to stand, and to never give up. The lyrics are a rallying cry to anyone going through tough times, and the chorus serves as a reminder that the human will is resilient, and that even in the face of death or insurmountable problems, one can always find strength to fight.
