The pair first gained recognition from their covers of popular Hip-Hop and Pop songs posted on YouTube. After offers from various record companies, the duo signed with Sony and Epic Records in June 2011.
Karmin is a collision of Nick’s Classic Rock upbringing and Jazz education (a trained trombonist) and Amy’s R&B influence and Pop background. Together they found music at its simplest form, percussion and voice.
In 2017, the duo took a break on Karmin to focus on another project known as "Qveen Herby".

If you won't let me, no
I know that a woman's duty is to help and love a man
And that's the way it was planned
Oh, ain't no way (ain't no way)
It ain't no way (ain't no way)
Just ain't no way, baby (ain't no way)
It ain't no way for me to love you
If you won't let me
You know what I said to him?
I said, stop trying to be someone you're not
And if you need me to love you, say, say you do
Oh, then baby, baby, baby don't you know that
I, whoa, whoa, I
It ain't no way
I'll tell you that it ain't no way,
It ain't no way
It ain't no way, baby, no
It just ain't no way (ain't no way)
It sure ain't no way (ain't no way)
It ain't no way for me to love you
If you won't let me
The first verse of the song speaks to the frustration of not being able to love someone who won't allow themselves to be loved. The singer acknowledges the traditional gender roles that in society and the responsibility that women are often expected to carry in nurturing and loving their partners. However, even with this understanding, the singer recognizes that it is impossible for her to love someone who won't allow her to. This sentiment is echoed in the chorus where the singer reiterates that it just ain't no way for her to love someone who won't let her.
The second verse reveals a conversation between the singer and her partner, where she encourages him to be true to himself and not pretend to be someone he isn't. She challenges him to be vulnerable and express his needs, suggesting that if he needs her to love him, he should just say so. The song concludes with multiple repetitions of the chorus, emphasizing the frustration and futility of trying to love someone who won't let themselves be loved.
Overall, the lyrics of the song reveal the struggle of trying to love someone who won't allow themselves to be loved, regardless of traditional gender roles or societal expectations. The singer acknowledges her own limitations and the importance of being true to oneself, while also encouraging her partner to do the same in order to create a loving, authentic relationship.
