Days Are Forgotten
Kasabian Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ah ah ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah ah ah

Hey son
I'm looking forward
You're leaning backwards
Of this I'm sure
Have you had enough?
Are you feeling rough?
Does your skull hurt?
Well if it's warm

'Cause I am taking back what's mine
I am taking back the time
You may call it suicide
But I'm being born again
I'm waiting

Ah
I'm waiting (ah ah ah ah ah)
Right here now, I'm waiting
For someone
Or something
To take me
To take me over

Days, days are forgotten
Now it's all over
Simply forgotten
How to disappear

Home bred
I've got blood lust
Feeding you bread crust
I leave no scar

You say I'm old hat
A fucking dirty rat
Call me a cliche
How right you are

'Cause I am flipping bag of bones
I am righting all your wrongs
You may call it suicide
But I'm being born again
I'm waiting

Ah
I'm waiting (ah ah ah ah ah)
Right here now, I'm waiting
For someone
Or something
To take me
To take me over

Days, days are forgotten
Now it's all over
Simply forgotten
How to disappear

Days, days are forgotten
Now it's all over
Simply forgotten
How to disappear

I saw something
I get on the dark
It's the
You was at home
Chewing a monkey brain

I am out here
I'm just a silhouette
You will never
Ever ever forget

Days, days are forgotten
Now it's all over
Simply forgotten
How to disappear

Days, days are forgotten
Now it's all over
Simply forgotten
How to disappear

I saw something
I get on the dark
It's the

You was at home
Chewing a monkey brain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kasabian’s “Days Are Forgotten” reflects a feeling of disillusionment with society's illusory promises of happiness and success. The song starts with the lines, "Hey son, I'm looking forward, you're leaning backward," which can be interpreted as a representation of the generation gap. The older generation looks to the future, and the younger generation wants to escape responsibility and cling to the past. The lyrics suggest that the singer is stuck in a rut, self-medicating to escape the pain, and trying to take back control of his life. He asks, "Have you had enough? Are you feeling rough? Does your skull hurt?" indicating a sense of desperation and a desire to escape reality.

The lyrics also reflect the singer's contrast between his experiences and his expectations. The lines "You say I'm old hat, a fucking dirty rat, call me a cliche, how right you are" indicates that the singer is fully aware of how others perceive him. He is unapologetic about his flaws and suggests that he has made peace with his image. The singer's ultimate goal is to be reborn, to rediscover himself, and to experience life anew. He declares, "You may call it suicide, but I'm being born again," which suggests that he is willing to take the risk of losing everything for the sake of starting over.

There is something about the chorus, that feels so tight and RIGHT, on the point. The circled guitar melody, Tom and his high tones, the lyrical content. I almost found ironic, how the chorus is about forgetting something, yet the chorus is so captivating, i can´t get it out of my head. I can´t explain much how right the chorus sounds, but it feels like the existence itself feels so smooth and colorful during that moment. Days Are Forgotten is my favorite Kasabian song.

as a former homeless man who has faced the struggles of being on the streets and living it rough, and now living an ordinary life and trying forget what I had to do to survive, and no one seems to understand, this song is very fitting

@dkursada

Man, all those people saying "this song sounds like this and that" and there's no mention of the lyrics... These words are heavy, this track is saddening. Yet people just enjoy the sound of it and be done with it.
