Where Did All the Love Go?
Kasabian Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Never took a punch
In the ribcage sonny
Never met a soul
Who had no shrine
Keep this all in your mind
And get it inside my window

What do we become
Trying to kill each other?
You're faking it son
Gonna get you tonight
I suck another breath
To the hearts of the Revolution
Cause you still ain't right

Where did all the love go?
I don't know, I don't know
I bet you can't see it
Where did all the love go?
I don't know, I don't know
I bet you can't see it

Can't see the signs
Of a real change a commin'
Take another sip
From your hobo's wine
Get yourself a million miles
From this concrete jungle

This is a time
Full of fear full of anger
A hero's exchange for a telephone line
Whatever happened to the
Youth of this generation?
Cause you still ain't right

Where did all the love go?
I don't know, I don't know
I bet you can't see it
Where did all the love go?
Now I don't know why
Oh why

The rivers of the pavement
Are flowing now with blood
The children of the future
Are drowning in the flood

Where did all the love go?
Now I don't know why
I don't know why

In this social chaos
There's violence in the air
Gotta keep your wits about you
Be careful not to stare
Oh oh oh oh

Where did all the love go?
I don't know, I don't know
(I bet you can't see it)
Where did all the love go?
Now I don't know why

Oh why
I bet you can't see it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kasabian's "Where Did All the Love Go?" speak to the violence and chaos present in society, questioning what has happened to humanity and our capacity to love. The first stanza sets the tone with the lines "Never took a punch in the ribcage sonny / Never met a soul who had no shrine," suggesting the singer has never experienced real violence from others or encountered someone who didn't have something they deeply cared about. The next line, "Keep this all in your mind / And get it inside my window," could be interpreted as a plea to the listener to truly consider the message of the song, to let it into their consciousness and take it seriously.

In the chorus, the line "Where did all the love go?" is repeated twice each time, followed by "I don't know, I don't know / I bet you can't see it." This line suggests that love has disappeared or been hidden from view, but it's not entirely clear why or how. The second verse seems to suggest that some do see the signs of change coming, but others are still mired in the violence and chaos. The lines "Take another sip from your hobo's wine / Get yourself a million miles from this concrete jungle" could be interpreted as a call for escapism or a desire to leave the city behind, but it's unclear if this is a viable solution to the problems presented in the song.

The final stanza pulls no punches, painting a bleak picture of what could happen if society continues down this path of violence and chaos. The lines "The rivers of the pavement are flowing now with blood / The children of the future are drowning in the flood" suggest a literal and metaphorical flood of violence that threatens to overwhelm us all. The song ends with the line "In this social chaos there's violence in the air / Gotta keep your wits about you / Be careful not to stare," indicating that the situation is not hopeless, but we need to be vigilant and aware in order to survive it.

that brief summer in 2009 when Kasabian were the best band on the planet, blew Oasis away when supporting them at Heaton Park and essentially headlined Glastonbury a few weeks later. Glorious stuff.

Not just that brief summer

Flintspark Film

Supporting RHCP in Warsaw in 2012 and been better than them..

Kean Hewitt

Ngl I agree with this, first two/ three albums where and are up there 🔥🔥🔥

JK Katori

Live-wise only due to Liam's dying voice. Studio-wise Oasis were still the greatest band on the planet, DOYS album was simply an untouchable masterpiece. Not even Kasabian at their peak of creativity could get close to it.

Great band? Absolutely. Blew oasis away when supporting? Absolutely not!!!!! Best band on the planet? Again thats a no from me. Fair play comment though as respect your opinion

I've only been into this lot for a few months and they're now one of my most played bands ever. Really wish I'd got into them sooner.

So underrated group. Such a voice, such a performance, such lyrics. After the Club foot, I am addicted to their art.
