Kasey Chambers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's comin round again slowly creepin in
Time in it's command soon enough it comes
Settles in it's place shadow in my face
Puts pressure in my day

Chorus
This life well it's slippin right through my hands
These days turned out nothin like I had planed

It's comin round again slowly creepin
In time in it's command
Settles in it's place
Shadow in my face puts pressure in my day
Soon enough it comes here it is again
Slowly creepin in time in it's command
Soon enough it comes settles in it's place
Shadow in my face dignified in lace

CHORUS
This life well it's slippin right through my hands
These days turned out nothin like I had planed
Control well it's slipp'in right through my hands
These days turned out nothin like I had planed
Soon enough it comes soon enough it comes this life well
This life well it's slippin right through my hands
These days turned out noth'in like I had planed
Control well it's slippin right through my hands
These days turned out nothin like I had planed

Rep.
It's comin round again( x 3)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Kasey Chambers's song "These Days" depict the feeling of losing control over one's life as time passes. The first verse says, "It's comin round again slowly creepin in, time in its command soon enough it comes." This suggests that time is slowly but surely taking over, and before we know it, we are stuck in our current situation. The lyrics go on to say, "Settles in its place, shadow in my face, puts pressure in my day," indicating that time also brings about pressure and stress.

The chorus further highlights the feeling of losing control, with the lyrics "This life well it's slippin' right through my hands, these days turned out nothin' like I had planned." This shows how life can take unexpected turns and leave us feeling powerless. The second verse repeats the first, with the addition of "dignified in lace" in the last line, possibly suggesting the inevitability of aging and the passing of time.

Overall, "These Days" paints a vivid picture of the struggles that come with losing control over one's life. The lyrics are relatable and capture the feeling of helplessness that comes with the passage of time.

I first saw Kasey when she played with her family in The Deadringer Band. It was back about 94, I guess. They played at the Boomerang Hotel in Albury. She was amazing then and she has only gotten better.

It would be great if you could put the title of the song on them all. save people sifting through songs they aren't looking for. Otherwise, thanks so much for the compilation.
