The band consists of the members:
Kasper Eistrup (vocals & guitar)
Mads Tunebjerg (bass)
Asger Techau (drums)
Henrik Lindstrand (keyboards & guitar).
Their earlier albums were musically in the vein of Primus and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but with their third full length album their style changed dramatically to be influenced by Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, a style often characterised by newcomers as in the same veins as Coldplay, however Kashmir has in Kasper Eistrup, an original text writer and singer, who can hardly be summarized as anything close to Chris Martin.
To this date, the band have released seven full length albums. Their latest, E.A.R. (2013). With the release of NBP, the band yet again changed direction musically to be inspired by artists such as Sonic Youth and other noise rockers.
It should be noted that there also was a Swiss band with the same name which was active between 1979 and 1982. Consisting of keyboarder Patrice Guenat and singer Henry Dubelly, they produced two albums that range between synthesizer pop and neo-progressive genres.
Another danish band in the 70s was also called Kashmir or more correctly "Jørgen Thomsen & Kashmir", but due to Spotify (Kashmir, Jørgen Thomsen tag) they will scrobble as Kashmir, despite being a backing band at least on the 1972 record they recorded:
Jørgen Thomsen was backed by prominent musicains in "Kashmir": Nils Tuxen (Savage Rose, Flemming Hansen (bass), Ken Gudman at drums and Carl Åge Isaksen on piano.
Kashmir - The Band (Urdu: کشمیر ـ دی بینڈ) is an alternative rock band from Karachi, Pakistan. It is the winning band of Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 2 in 2017. But someone kept me in his eye
My wings were burnt and for a while I cried
But now I'm in the air again
And headed for a better when
To land upon a closer friend again
I drew my own world in every sky
it took me years to concentrate on anything or any fate
But the one I found in hate for you
You tangoed down 'till you were sore
A bottled leaked and many more...
I picked you from a frozen floor again
I wish I could have done whatever I felt
Just to pull a loaded gun from my belt and blow it in your mouth...
Blow it in your mouth...
let me go... I'll make it better on my own
Let me go... I may just break a few bones
Let me go... I ask you to let me go
And just let me flow
you die in every dream I have, but I still wake up
It may be you that made me dring...
I dring...I dring...
let me go... I'll make it better on my own
Let me go... I may just break a few bones
Let me go... I ask you to let me go
And just let it flow
The song "Dring" by Kashmir starts with the singer talking about being taught how to fly, but eventually someone held him back and his wings were burnt. He sheds tears for a while until he starts soaring in the air again, heading towards a better place and closer to a friend. Then he goes on to talk about how he drew his own world in every sky, but few and cruel words were passed his way, causing him to take years to concentrate on anything else but hate for the person who hurt him. He goes on to talk about how he sees this person tango until they are sore, and even though a bottle leaked and many more, he still picked them up from the frozen floor. The climax of the song comes when he expresses his desire to have done whatever he wanted to pull out a loaded gun and blow it in that person's mouth. He repeats his plea to be left alone several times, and that it may be that person that has made him dring.
The lyrics in the first few paragraphs talk about the struggle that comes with a failed relationship or friendship, the pain, betrayal, and the difficulty of being able to move on, especially if it involves someone that had a significant impact on your life. This is the foundation of the song Dring, and the message is quite relatable.
