The band consists of the members:
Kasper Eistrup (vocals & guitar)
Mads Tunebjerg (bass)
Asger Techau (drums)
Henrik Lindstrand (keyboards & guitar).
Their earlier albums were musically in the vein of Primus and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but with their third full length album their style changed dramatically to be influenced by Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, a style often characterised by newcomers as in the same veins as Coldplay, however Kashmir has in Kasper Eistrup, an original text writer and singer, who can hardly be summarized as anything close to Chris Martin.
To this date, the band have released seven full length albums. Their latest, E.A.R. (2013). With the release of NBP, the band yet again changed direction musically to be inspired by artists such as Sonic Youth and other noise rockers.
It should be noted that there also was a Swiss band with the same name which was active between 1979 and 1982. Consisting of keyboarder Patrice Guenat and singer Henry Dubelly, they produced two albums that range between synthesizer pop and neo-progressive genres.
Another danish band in the 70s was also called Kashmir or more correctly "Jørgen Thomsen & Kashmir", but due to Spotify (Kashmir, Jørgen Thomsen tag) they will scrobble as Kashmir, despite being a backing band at least on the 1972 record they recorded:
Jørgen Thomsen was backed by prominent musicains in "Kashmir": Nils Tuxen (Savage Rose, Flemming Hansen (bass), Ken Gudman at drums and Carl Åge Isaksen on piano.

Kashmir Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like someone took your breath away
To replace it with ether
And you stagger in headwind all day
It's too easy to go crazy
Way much harder to stay clear
Tough you're pleading (come save me)
No one or nothing comes near
Refrigerate your fire
The grim faces that you're passing
In your freefall from the ground
Won't remember, won't be asking
And they won't be making a sound
Hold your soldiers
And keep them in the woods
Until it's over, it will be
Wait see
The sun sets
And morning
Puts you back into place
The right place
Refrigerate your fire
The lyrics to Kashmir's song Ether paint a picture of someone who feels as though they have been cancelled - as if the world has taken their breath away and replaced it with liquid ether, leaving them staggering in the wind for an entire day. The frustration of feeling so isolated and helpless is clear as they plead for someone or something to come save them, to no avail. Despite this, the lyrics offer a glimmer of hope as they encourage the listener to "refrigerate your fire", implying the need to cool down in a sense and take a step back from the tumultuous emotions.
The second verse of the song continues with the imagery of falling without anyone noticing, no one bothering to ask questions or make a sound while the person plummets towards the ground. However, the chorus encourages them to "hold your soldiers", to keep their strength and resilience in the woods until the storm is over. The metaphor is one of a battle - the person is fighting hard against whatever has caused them to feel so cancelled, and they need to stay strong despite feeling alone.
The final lines of the song provide a sense of comfort and closure, as they describe the sun setting and then rising again in the morning to put them back into place - the right place. The repeated line to "refrigerate your fire" could be seen as a reminder to not let the heat of the moment consume you, and to find a sense of peace and serenity in difficult times.
