The band consists of the members:
Kasper Eistrup (vocals & guitar)
Mads Tunebjerg (bass)
Asger Techau (drums)
Henrik Lindstrand (keyboards & guitar).
Their earlier albums were musically in the vein of Primus and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but with their third full length album their style changed dramatically to be influenced by Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, a style often characterised by newcomers as in the same veins as Coldplay, however Kashmir has in Kasper Eistrup, an original text writer and singer, who can hardly be summarized as anything close to Chris Martin.
To this date, the band have released seven full length albums. Their latest, E.A.R. (2013). With the release of NBP, the band yet again changed direction musically to be inspired by artists such as Sonic Youth and other noise rockers.
It should be noted that there also was a Swiss band with the same name which was active between 1979 and 1982. Consisting of keyboarder Patrice Guenat and singer Henry Dubelly, they produced two albums that range between synthesizer pop and neo-progressive genres.
Another danish band in the 70s was also called Kashmir or more correctly "Jørgen Thomsen & Kashmir", but due to Spotify (Kashmir, Jørgen Thomsen tag) they will scrobble as Kashmir, despite being a backing band at least on the 1972 record they recorded:
Jørgen Thomsen was backed by prominent musicains in "Kashmir": Nils Tuxen (Savage Rose, Flemming Hansen (bass), Ken Gudman at drums and Carl Åge Isaksen on piano.
Kashmir - The Band (Urdu: کشمیر ـ دی بینڈ) is an alternative rock band from Karachi, Pakistan. It is the winning band of Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 2 in 2017. Lollypork Stomp
Kashmir Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And full above the waving swimming pool
As we were feeding mouths with heat and drool
'cause we were having christmas feast
A merry one with pork and grease
And every guest was eating meat like beasts
'cause santa gave us lollypork and everyone was gay
I really think that eating piggy pork is quite O.K
As long as the meat is well done
I think its fair
fanatic vegetarians would call us rude barbarians
But before they did we forked them on the grill
The taste was quite 'mermalian'
Reminded me of aliens
But salt could give oooooh the last thrill
and santa gave us lollypork....
my youngest son once asked his dad
"how can it be that I'm so fat?
You taught me lollypork was for my health!
The skinny kids with baseball bats
Still kick my ass and tell me that
My family was never one of wealth"
and santa gave us lollypork....
The lyrics of Lollypork Stomp by Kashmir paint a picture of a Christmas feast where the guests are eating pork and enjoying it immensely. The moon hangs full and cool above a swimming pool where the guests are feasting with heat and drool. Every guest is eating meat like beasts, and the smell of frying pig fills the air. The song presents a joyful and almost carnival-like scene, with everyone enjoying themselves.
The song also touches upon the controversial topic of eating meat, mentioning that fanatic vegetarians would call them rude barbarians. However, the song dismisses these accusations and even suggests that pork is good for one's health. The youngest son of the family seems to be struggling with his weight and being bullied by other kids because of it. Despite this, the family continues to enjoy their lollypork feast, which seems to be a staple in their household.
Overall, the song seems to be a lighthearted celebration of the joys of Christmas and the pleasures of eating pork. While it touches upon weight issues and vegetarianism, it ultimately presents an unapologetic and joyful celebration of meat-eating.
