Prior to being a recording artist, he was a record store owner and a club DJ at a nightclub in Salt Lake City as a way to make ends meet for him and his wife. After he and his wife moved to San Francisco he landed a job as a A&R man at OM records, where in addition to reviewing demos for the label he also submitted his own material, which would pay off big time for him. In 2001 he went from behind the desk to behind the turntables and the recording studio as an artist in his own right. In 2003 Kaskade released his first album, "It's You It's Me", which was well received by critics.
It would be his follow up, "In The Moment" in 2004, that would put Kaskade on the map. The first single off the set "Steppin' Out" would become a major hit on the Dance Radio Airplay that year as well as a top 10 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His biggest breakthrough would come the week of May 14, 2005, when his follow up, "Everything," would go all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.

So here goes. I've always been a fan. I love the work you've done with Deadmau5. But being honest I haven't looked into your entire discography. Today I put Spotify and put the Playlist 'this is Kaskade' on shuffle.
After about 20 mnts odd this record comes on. I hit replay about 5 rules before looking this record up. I'm shocked that it says 2003! 😄

Man... I'm struggling so much with artist like Kaskade and Zedd at the moment because they are choosing to go mainstream.
And don't get me wrong... I get it. I am an aspiring artist myself so I can sense why they do the things that they do.
But as a long time fan u r just kind of like "Damn it... This old stuff was so fucking good and so personal that's it's so hard to come to terms with the new stuff".
There's just something fundamentally different with the old stuff than then new stuff. The new stuff is just somehow a little bit more hollower. There is just magic with the older stuff. U don't know why, but it captivates u and makes u bop ur head when ur feeling like shit. It still hits ya right in the feels years later.
Don't get me wrong. Kaskade is a true master and I am certain that we will hear more bangers from him. I just wish that they were more similar to his older stuff because with the older stuff there was just this indescribable feeling u got when u listen to it. U can't put ur finger on it. But u know it's there... And u know that it's so personal because it helped u get through a season of ur life.
I don't know... Maybe I'm just an old timer harping on old times. Anyone else feel this way?????
