Prior to being a recording artist, he was a record store owner and a club DJ at a nightclub in Salt Lake City as a way to make ends meet for him and his wife. After he and his wife moved to San Francisco he landed a job as a A&R man at OM records, where in addition to reviewing demos for the label he also submitted his own material, which would pay off big time for him. In 2001 he went from behind the desk to behind the turntables and the recording studio as an artist in his own right. In 2003 Kaskade released his first album, "It's You It's Me", which was well received by critics.
It would be his follow up, "In The Moment" in 2004, that would put Kaskade on the map. The first single off the set "Steppin' Out" would become a major hit on the Dance Radio Airplay that year as well as a top 10 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His biggest breakthrough would come the week of May 14, 2005, when his follow up, "Everything," would go all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.

Peeking through the window,
Tryna get a looksie, looksie.
4, 4, 5, 6 I know how to get my kicks.
You may think that this is live,
Waiting for the remix, remix.
Words just get in the way
Feelings come from a place
Far away from your face.
Sometimes I just wanna sing softly
Sing softly...
Sing softly...
Sing.
Sing softly...
Sing softly...
Sing.
Hey, hey, you, you
One more time will get us through
Turn the clock so we don't see
Happy just to be
1, 1, 2, 3 you know L-L-O-V-E?
This rhythm is sublime
Is so unreal
Sometimes I don't have much to say
Words just get in the way
Feelings come from a place
Far away from your face.
Sometimes I just wanna sing softly
Sing softly...
Sing softly...
Sing.
Sing softly...
Sing softly...
Sing.
In Kaskade's song Llove featuring Haley, the opening lines "1, 1, 2, 3 you know L-L-O-V-E?" introduces the theme of the song which is all about love. The lyrics describe someone trying to catch a glimpse of their love interest through the windows, indicating their obsession with the object of their affection. The following lines "4, 4, 5, 6 I know how to get my kicks. You may think that this is live, waiting for the remix, remix" suggest that the person knows how to have fun and is not too serious about their relationship. They are waiting for something new or fresh, possibly indicating that the relationship has been stagnant or predictable.
The chorus "Sometimes I don't have much to say, words just get in the way. Feelings come from a place far away from your face. Sometimes I just wanna sing softly" suggests that the person finds it hard to articulate their emotions because words are inadequate. They rather express themselves through singing softly, indicating a sense of vulnerability. The last verse emphasizes the desire to be happy with the object of their affection, without any need to acknowledge time or space.
