Prior to being a recording artist, he was a record store owner and a club DJ at a nightclub in Salt Lake City as a way to make ends meet for him and his wife. After he and his wife moved to San Francisco he landed a job as a A&R man at OM records, where in addition to reviewing demos for the label he also submitted his own material, which would pay off big time for him. In 2001 he went from behind the desk to behind the turntables and the recording studio as an artist in his own right. In 2003 Kaskade released his first album, "It's You It's Me", which was well received by critics.
It would be his follow up, "In The Moment" in 2004, that would put Kaskade on the map. The first single off the set "Steppin' Out" would become a major hit on the Dance Radio Airplay that year as well as a top 10 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His biggest breakthrough would come the week of May 14, 2005, when his follow up, "Everything," would go all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
Solid Ground
Kaskade Lyrics

The world go up in flames
We fight for love
Until we die in vain
When the sky is getting dark
And we′re broken in our hearts
When we build our own demise
When the world, world
World is falling down
Will you be, be
Be my solid ground?
When the world, world
World is falling down
Will you be, be, be
Be my solid ground?
Be my solid ground
We look off the edge
'Til the waves come crashing in
We say our goodbyes
To the tides that might have been
When the sky is getting dark
And we′re broken in our hearts
When we build our own demise
From the ashes we will rise
When the world, world
World is falling down
Will you be, be
Be my solid ground?
When the world, world
World is falling down
Will you be, be, be
Be my solid ground?
When the world, world
World is falling down
Will you be, be, be
Be my solid ground?
The lyrics to Kaskade's Solid Ground seem to speak about the fragility of the world we live in and the importance of having someone to rely on, someone to be our solid ground, in times of crisis. The first verse speaks of watching the world go up in flames, highlighting the chaos and destruction happening around us. Despite this, the singer still believes in fighting for love, even if it means dying in vain. The second verse continues with the metaphor of the world falling apart and individuals standing on the edge, watching the waves come crashing in. It's a moment of reflection where one says goodbye to what might have been - lost opportunities, moments in time that just slipped by. Yet again, the lyrics return to the theme of hope and resilience, with the promise that even from the ashes, we will rise.
The chorus is where the question is being asked, "Will you be my solid ground?" The repetition of the lyrics reinforces the need for someone to hold onto during difficult times, anticipating the world falling apart. The song seems to end with this question, leaving the answer open for interpretation - perhaps it's a call to the ones we love, or a plea to find one person who can provide the stability and comfort we need in a world that's slowly crumbling.
