Tear Down These Walls
Kaskade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I see you wage a war in your heart
Lit like an inferno
You can't stop once you press start
Falling like a domino

You're fired up, you're burning now
Losing all the feeling
You're wired up, you're turned up loud
Bursting to the ceiling

Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls

Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls

A smoking gun, you hide in your heart
Spinning 'round the chamber
This world has taken you too far
Left you for a stranger

You're loaded up, it's crying now
Losing all the feeling
You're blowing up, can't stop it now
Bursting to the ceiling

Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls

Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls

Tear down these walls
Tear down these walls

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Tear Down These Walls" by Kaskade feat. Tamra Keenan are about a person who is struggling with their own internal battles, represented by walls that they have erected around themselves. The first verse talks about the person being caught in the middle of a battle within themselves, like a war lit like an inferno. Once they start down this path, they can't stop, falling down like a domino. The lines "You're fired up, you're burning now / Losing all the feeling" suggest the person is so consumed by their struggles that they are losing touch with their own emotions.

The chorus of the song – "Tear down these walls" – is the plea by the singer, imploring the person to break down the barriers they have erected around themselves. The second verse continues along the same lines, describing the person as being caught with a smoking gun in their heart, like a loaded weapon they are carrying that is getting ready to explode.

Overall, the lyrics of the song are an invitation or a call to action, to confront and overcome one's inner struggles and the walls one has built around themselves. It is a message of hope, a reminder that one is not alone in their struggles and that they have the power and ability to tear down the walls and break free.

You may recognize Tamra’s voice from “Angel On My Shoulder”, one of the most quoted (and mis-quoted) songs in my discography. Tamra also sang on “Your Love Is Black” on Strobelite Seduction. She’s back for #AUTOMATIC, starting with “Tear Down These Walls”. It took us 7 years to get back in the studio together, but it was worth the wait! Excited to share a little more of what is to come. We were able to craft something beautiful that references being honest with yourself.

@Thomas Koenig I feel you. its nice to go back and see the videos a few years later! Well, from that Redux I can tell you he also played the us remix that has a sound like sharp shards of glass are falling. Last chance to breathe and atmosphere were big moments as well. He went pretty dark at times like he only does in redux, I feel like that's why there are no redux mixes online, if you notice the one from SD that you can find on soundcloud is edited as well. I also remember the guy that was opening played the four set opus remix as we walk into the club which was huge.

@Luka Charrabe That's sooo sad :/ I don't neither... I got wasted big time on the previous weekend at ministry of sound and lost my phone. That was cool to enjoy this show without my phone but I regret it everyday I didn't have it tho. Especially that shivering intro. Can't believe Ryan never posted anything about this only redux show out of US ... :X

Luka Charrabe

@Thomas Koenig yeah, hopefully we get another one after Covid is over! Nope, not one dude. If you look on YouTube there's one for the 4 am song bit but that's about it I think

Thomas Koenig

@Luka Charrabe Fuck yeah man 😱 what a treat. Would you happen to have some videos of the show by any chance ? 🤟

Luka Charrabe

@Thomas Koenig that set was incredible

Love your music. You are so underrated and underappreciated. Your tracks always put me in a better mood. Make sure you listen to this music on a good sound system with a good subwoofer.
