After self-financing an EP and a music video, Dahlia was brought to the attention of veteran record executive Sylvia Rhone by A&R representative Amanda Berkowitz. In 2012, describing Dahlia as "more than just a pop artist," Rhone signed her to her newly-launched label, Vested In Culture (VIC), a joint venture with Epic Records. Dahlia's debut album is set to come out in 2013, and will be VIC's inaugural release.
Dahlia's first single and video for VIC is the track "Gangsta", which MTV called "filled to the brim with fierce rapping". Shot in Miami, the video for "Gangsta" reflects the difficulties of her earlier life. The video, which was directed by Samantha Lecca, premiered on Vevo on March 5, 2013, and Dahlia was selected as a BET "Music Matters" artist.
Dahlia digitally released three songs, "Gangsta", "Money Party", and "Mirror" on March 5, 2013.
Saturday Sunday
Kat Dahlia Lyrics

Poppin shots down the same lips that I pray
Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday
Maybe I'll get it right one day
Got my makeup on my face
Who am I today
Is today a new day
With me knees to the ground, head facing down to pray
While I'm a thousand miles away
No time or space
O preacher you're way too loud
My head's spinning round
Watch my gown
He's dressed in black
Don't let me drown
Oh preacher it's way too soon
It's Saturday night, a Sunday afternoon
Who do I tell my stories to
Is the DJ in the confession booth
Is it Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday
Poppin shots down the same lips that I pray
Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday
Maybe I'll get it right one day
Bodies all around hypnotized by the sound that surrounds
Don't count me out
Has a savior been found
Spirits in my system
Trying to resist them no
They will not go
Pour the wine slow
O preacher you're way too loud
My head's spinning round
Watch my gown
He's dressed in black
Don't let me drown
Oh preacher it's way too soon
It's Saturday night, a Sunday afternoon
Who do I tell my stories to
Is the DJ in the confession booth
Say nothing I been accused of my own use
I'm going, going, so we can cure my abuse
Say nothing I hold this in for my own use
I'm going, going so we can cure my abuse of you
Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday
(Oh preacher my feet hurt )
Poppin shots down the same lips that I pray
Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday
Maybe I'll get it right one day
Take my sorrow
Sorrow away from me
Oh it's dark baby
Turn up the lights, turn up the lights
It's dark baby
DJ turn up the lights, turn up the lights
I'm fallin', fallin', fallin' into my abuse
I've fallin', fallin', fallin' again angel, angel
Oh oh my feet hurt I won't make it to the altar
Oh preacher
The lyrics of Kat Dahlia's "Saturday Sunday" depict the inner turmoil of a young woman who is struggling to find her sense of identity and purpose. The song is a reflection of how she has lost herself in the hectic pace of life, and how she is searching for solace in the guilt and anxiety that stems from her past. She bounces between the days of the week and her actions, as she struggles between spirituality and indulgence.
She opens the song with the words "Is it Saturday Sunday Saturday Sunday", and continues with the confession that she is popping shots down the same lips she prays to. She is stuck in the cycle of the week, where she tries to seek clarity in moments of devotion and indulges in moments of hedonism. She goes on to describe how she puts on makeup and struggles with her identity, wondering if she is a different person every day, and if she is ensnared in a maze where she does not know what awaits her.
The verses also show her attending church or a religious service, where she seems to be seeking absolution or redemption for her sins, but is unable to let go of her impulses. The chorus, "Maybe I'll get it right one day", is a reminder of her constant attempts to reconcile her spirituality and her nightlife. The song is a powerful rendition of the complexity of the human condition and the struggle that many people face in trying to find balance and peace in their lives.

There needs to be more music like this around. This is legit. I think she needs more credit than she gets, but I can see why she doesn't, cause the world revolves around, and lives on trash music
