After self-financing an EP and a music video, Dahlia was brought to the attention of veteran record executive Sylvia Rhone by A&R representative Amanda Berkowitz. In 2012, describing Dahlia as "more than just a pop artist," Rhone signed her to her newly-launched label, Vested In Culture (VIC), a joint venture with Epic Records. Dahlia's debut album is set to come out in 2013, and will be VIC's inaugural release.
Dahlia's first single and video for VIC is the track "Gangsta", which MTV called "filled to the brim with fierce rapping". Shot in Miami, the video for "Gangsta" reflects the difficulties of her earlier life. The video, which was directed by Samantha Lecca, premiered on Vevo on March 5, 2013, and Dahlia was selected as a BET "Music Matters" artist.
Dahlia digitally released three songs, "Gangsta", "Money Party", and "Mirror" on March 5, 2013.

I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
I hear them coming, I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
Woo, woo, woo
There′s magic inside of my cup
My eyes red just like firetruck
This room's starting to look down-side up
And I don′t mind, and I don't mind
Phone blowing up, they wanna come through
It's cool if it′s you and your crew
Them other hoes better find something else to do
That ain′t the vibe, no not tonight
It's going down like domino
When the smoke fill up the place, can′t see in front of you
Tell the DJ run it back, loco
Yeah, the sirens that you're hearing ain′t the 5-0
I'm that siren on the track
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
I hear them coming, I hear them coming
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo
Woo, woo, woo

My Snap gon′ be so lit as fuck
We out here and we don't give up
We outta line and I don't mind
We blowing up, they tryna come through
It′s cool if it′s you and your crew
Them other hoes better find something else to do
It's not the vibe, no not tonight
It′s going down like domino
When the smoke fill up the place, can't see in front of you
Tell the DJ run it back, loco
Yeah, the sirens that you′re hearing ain't the 5-0
I′m that siren on the track
Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee, woo woo woo

We ain't even done yet
And we calling for more, more
It's going down like domino
When the smoke fill up the place, can′t see in front of you
Tell the DJ run it back, loco

The song "Sirens" by Kat Dahlia is a party anthem about living in the moment and enjoying the night without worrying about consequences. The song starts with a sirens-like sound, as if the party-goers are being called to the scene of the fun. The singer describes a scene where she is drinking and the room starts to spin, which she doesn't mind at all. She is enjoying the company of her friends, blowing up her phone, and waiting for their arrival. She doesn't care about other people who might not be having the same fun as her.
The chorus of the song highlights that the "sirens" they are hearing are not the police, but the singer on the track. It's a metaphor for how their wild party will be the standout moment of the night. The second verse echoes the sentiments of the first, with the singer excitedly waiting for the arrival of her friends, and not caring about anyone else who might want to join them. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, highlighting that their party is still going strong, and they are calling for more.
