Brazil
Kate Bush Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Brazil
When hearts were entertained in June
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly whispered 'some day soon'

We kissed and clung together
Then
Tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say

Now
When twilight beams the skies above
Recalling thrills of our love
There's one thing I'm certain of

Return I will
To old Brazil

My favourite movie of all time. Thank you, Terry Gilliam.

SuperRod88

Such a marvellous song version. A truly great movie but such a shame that it's so underrated. Jonathan Pryce has his best performance here.

One of the greatest films of all time. Shame Roger Ebert didn't like it. This film has everything; it's funny, scary, weird, exciting, thrilling, all these good things. Not like the crap Hollywood spits out today.

Onyl Lindoro

Incredibly beautiful

Roxanne .Kateri

Yeah. I don't understand why Ebert had such a hard time getting it. It wasn't that complicated. In fact, if you've read the novel "1984" you already have most of the story. Brazil is basically Terry Gilliam's "Variations on a Theme by George Orwell." That's probably why it premiered the year after 1984, when I saw it first run.

Looking to the future Terry et al, but drawing from the present. Saying that if we go on like we are now, in my time, we will inherit: Brazil.

It's 2020 now and we have arrived
