I need to wash it all away
Sun come down, come down
Whisper me awake
Make me forget that I am broken
Bend and draw your curtain
Sweep me off my feet, oh night
Let me be released
Sing to me, sing to me
Wrap that voice around me
Beautiful beautiful voice
Come and carry me away
Sing to me, sing to me
It's the only thing I want
It's the only thing I think about
If you can't sing me a love song
Sing me anything, anything you want
Yes I know you were another's
I can feel it in your kisses
I don't even care, I swear
It wasn't like this
But it's been one of those times
I need to wash it from my mind
Sun come down, come down
Come and make it right
Sing to me, sing to me
Wrap that voice around me
Beautiful beautiful voice
Come and carry me away
Sing to me, sing to me
It's the only thing I want
It's the only thing I think about
If you can't sing me a love song
Sing me anything, anything you want
Sing to me, sing to me
Wrap that voice around me
Beautiful beautiful voice
Come and carry me away
Sing to me, sing to me
Wrap that voice around me
Beautiful beautiful voice
Come and carry me away
Sing to me, sing to me
It's the only thing I want
It's the only thing I think about
If you can't sing me a love song
Sing me anything, anything you want
Sing me a love song
Sing me anything, anything you want
The lyrics to Kate Miller-Heidke's "Sing to Me" speak to the universal feeling of needing comfort and escape when life becomes overwhelming. The singer of the song has had a particularly bad day and is seeking solace in the form of the sun going down and the night enveloping her. She pleads with the night to "whisper [her] awake" and "make [her] forget that [she is] broken." The night becomes a metaphor for the singer's desired escape, a place where she can be free from her worries and find peace.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Sing to me" several times, emphasizing the importance of music in the singer's quest for comfort. She wants to be wrapped up in a beautiful voice that will carry her away from her troubles. The line "If you can't sing me a love song, sing me anything, anything you want" is particularly poignant, as it speaks to the idea that any form of connection, even with a stranger, can be a source of solace in dark times.
Overall, "Sing to Me" is a song about seeking comfort and escape when life becomes too much to handle. It speaks to the healing power of music and the importance of human connection in finding peace.
