And that's just one. There are soooo many quotable lines from this show. They only sometimes make easy rhymes for characterization(Regina) or emphasis(Janice).

I think people are forgetting that almost all of the songs in Mean Girls are being sung by teenage characters, and the lyrics reflect that. The lyrics aren't polished, and sometimes they are awkward, but that describes most teenagers to a tee. Personally, I'm really enjoying all of the songs on the soundtrack because they are just so damn catchy and fun.

There are some good ones for sure, but though most of it is fine, there are a few that are confusing or lazy. I.e. Apex Predator, despite being a great song, has the lyrics "Like a lioness; only with less fur" (lazy, no one thought she had fur) and "Every food chain has its acme; Regina George eats steak" (confusing).

I’ve always thought that a lot of lines in Apex Predator sounded like they needed words to squeeze into, but they couldn’t think of anything good and thus the lines are lazy, like the example you gave with the lioness. Another one was “And though Janis is great, she does not have this power, people literally cower, Janis can’t do that” that last part doesn’t really seem necessary (it was already implied that Janis couldn’t do that in “she does not have this power”) but they needed a line and just chucked something random there.
And let’s not forget Revenge Party where Janis sang cake twice. I’m still confused over that. Either she really loves cake or the writers were not into it that day 🤷🏻‍♀️

I absolutely adore how the cast recording autotuned Karen's singing so obviously that you can pick it up at the beginning and end of her phrases just to emphasize how "stupidly blonde"/plastic her character is portrayed as. While Karen's desire to be feminist and empowered through her sexiness is sincere, it's also not really a rebellion against gender roles or the Male Gaze so much as it is playing right to them, and it's put her in some really dangerous positions growing up as we hear in Stop.

This is honestly the best song on the album for multiple reasons. It's fun and catchy. The lyrics are really well written. The actress does the little things to bring her character to life and the message is very forward thinking without being preachy ie I'd Rather Be Me.
