Voegele began gaining interest from record labels and management companies after recording a series of demos. The first demo "The Other Side" (released in 2003) was produced by multi-platinum, award winning producer Michael Seifert. Her second demo "Louder Than Words" (released in 2004) was produced by Marshall Altman. Kate signed a record deal with Myspace Records in 2006 and released her debut album "Don't Look Away" (produced by Marshall Altman) in May of 2007.
Kate Voegele recently began a recurring guest spot in six episodes of The CW television series "One Tree Hill" on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Voegele plays Mia, a young singer and keyboardist for a rock band fronted by Jason (Kevin Federline). After Peyton (Hilarie Burton) signs the band to her upstart record label and becomes increasingly frustrated with Jason's attitude, she eventually drops him and the rest of the band, but retains Mia as a developing new artist at the insistence of Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), who is somewhat well-versed in the music industry as well. Mia performs songs on the series from Voegele's real-life debut album "Don't Look Away" including "Kindly Unspoken" in her very first episode.
Kate Voegele performed several songs from her debut album "Don't Look Away" on the The Early Show, Saturday, February 2, 2008 on CBS television network nationally. Kate's band member Sam provided backup vocals and beat box support while Mark played the bass guitar.
In the spring, Kate embarked on a world-wind tour, opening up for the rock band Hanson on their 2008 Walk Tour and gaining a reputation in the music business that will surely be worth remembering.

Angel
Kate Voegele Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've got something hanging over my head
I was laying on your shoulder
Perfectly content
Until you told me all over again
I ain't got no sob story to write
But just like everyone else I'm living this life an
And there ain't no other side
To shelter me from all the wrong where I decide
But you say we don't mess around
You've got no freedom to come down
We don't take angels from the sky
Oh no
But we don't mess around
You're meant to be among the clouds
Cause you're an angel
But that's a lie
Oh oh oh
Well I suppose you think that I'm so flattered to hear
That I'm a whispered conscience in your ear, yeah
And that's exactly the reason that I never fit in here
Well nothings ever that black and white my dear
No
But you say we don't mess around
You've got no freedom to come down
We don't take angels from the sky
Oh no
We don't mess around
You're meant to be among the clouds
Cause you're an angel
But that's a lie
Oh oh oh
I'm not your angel darling
I'm not your angel darling
I am never gonna be
I'm not your angel darling
I'm not your angel darling
I am never gonna be
We don't mess around
You've got no freedom to come down
We don't take angels from the sky
Oh no no no
But we don't mess around
You're meant to be among the clouds
Cause you're an angel
But that's a lie [Repeat: x3]
Ain't never gonna be
The song "Angel" by Kate Voegele talks about the pressure of being labelled as an "angel" when you know you're not one. Voegele sings about how she was content laying on someone's shoulder until they reminded her that she was supposed to be an angel. She goes on to say that she's just like everyone else, living their life and doesn't need anyone to win her over. The lyrics suggest that being classified as an angel comes with certain expectations, but Voegele reminds the subject that there's no other side to shelter her from all the wrong decisions she may make.
The chorus of the song talks about how the subject of the song is meant to be among the clouds because she's an angel, but that's a lie. The lyrics imply that people have put the subject on a pedestal, and the subject is aware of that but is not happy with it. Voegele goes on to say that she's not the subject's angel and that she's never going to be one. The song's overall theme is about not fitting into people's expectations of you and not conforming to labels people put on you.
