Voegele began gaining interest from record labels and management companies after recording a series of demos. The first demo "The Other Side" (released in 2003) was produced by multi-platinum, award winning producer Michael Seifert. Her second demo "Louder Than Words" (released in 2004) was produced by Marshall Altman. Kate signed a record deal with Myspace Records in 2006 and released her debut album "Don't Look Away" (produced by Marshall Altman) in May of 2007.
Kate Voegele recently began a recurring guest spot in six episodes of The CW television series "One Tree Hill" on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Voegele plays Mia, a young singer and keyboardist for a rock band fronted by Jason (Kevin Federline). After Peyton (Hilarie Burton) signs the band to her upstart record label and becomes increasingly frustrated with Jason's attitude, she eventually drops him and the rest of the band, but retains Mia as a developing new artist at the insistence of Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), who is somewhat well-versed in the music industry as well. Mia performs songs on the series from Voegele's real-life debut album "Don't Look Away" including "Kindly Unspoken" in her very first episode.
Kate Voegele performed several songs from her debut album "Don't Look Away" on the The Early Show, Saturday, February 2, 2008 on CBS television network nationally. Kate's band member Sam provided backup vocals and beat box support while Mark played the bass guitar.
In the spring, Kate embarked on a world-wind tour, opening up for the rock band Hanson on their 2008 Walk Tour and gaining a reputation in the music business that will surely be worth remembering.

Manhattan from the Sky
Kate Voegele Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What are you doing later?
I don't know my way through a maze
Of gray skyscrapers
But I'm willing to learn
If you want me to, I'll stay just where I am
But I promise just to follow where I land
For that
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
I wanna come down and walk around your mind
Daisies, once upon an old daydream
That's what you gave me
Out on the corner of Broadway and 48th street
On a rainy afternoon
Well I could start discovering your world
And I would make a damn good city girl
Things would start to bloom
I'm sure
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
I wanna come down and walk around your mind
I know you want me to see it; don't lie to me
So why you gotta go be so shy to me?
I ain't buying the false anxiety
Let your fortress fall
What is it gonna take to get you there?
If fear was money, you'd be a millionaire
All alone in a leather swivel chair
Counting stacks of gold
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
I wanna come down and walk around
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
I wanna come down and walk around your mind
The song "Manhattan From The Sky" by Kate Voegele is about a person who is in a city, specifically New York City also referred to as Manhattan, and is in awe of the city's beauty from afar. The person wants to explore the city and experience its hustle and bustle. However, the city is also known for its chaos and the person is aware of it, but still wants to explore the city. The lyrics depict the excitement and also the fear of exploring a new place. It's about taking chances, discovering new things, and being willing to get out of one's comfort zone to explore the city.
The chorus highlights the contrast between the beauty of the city as seen from above and the chaos on the ground level. The phrase "you are my Manhattan from the sky" depicts how the city appears from a distance, neat and tidy but as the person says "But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside"; it shows that the city has its own issues, which are not visible from afar. The person wants to explore and discover what's really happening inside the city and knows that it might not be as neat and tidy as it appears from a distance.
Overall, the song is about taking chances and exploring the world, even though it might be scary, and although the city may have its own issues, it is still worth exploring and discovering.
