Jenkins was born in Neath, Wales, where she and her sister Laura were raised by their parents Selwyn John (1924–1995) and Susan. She has twin half-sisters from her father's first marriage, neither of whom she has met.
Six out of seven of Jenkins's studio albums reached number one in the classical charts between 2004 and 2008, selling a total of more than 4 million copies. After her first album, Premiere, made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date she became the first British classical crossover artist to have two number one albums in the same year. She is also the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards: her second album, Second Nature, reached number 16 in the UK pop charts and was Album of the Year in the 2005 BRIT Awards.
On Sunday 25th November 2007, Katherine Jenkins' new album 'Rejoice' entered the 'Official UK Album Chart' at number 3. Katherine beat off stiff competition from the likes of Girls Aloud, Led Zeppelin, Spice Girls, Take That and Celine Dion.

Where did I set it down
Which one the day that I forgot
What this was all about
And I came so close
To throwing it all away
But I'm taking it back again
Come and rejoice
What was lost is found
When did I get so sensible
Make me a fool again
My life was a half empty glass
Now it is full again
And this road we take
Is never an easy place
But somehow we've found our way
So come and rejoice
Come and rejoice
And you don't even have to make a sound
I feel it in your touch
You sing it with you eyes
What was lost is found
So come and rejoice
Come and rejoice
What was lost is what was lost is
What was lost is found
What was lost is found
In this song, Katherine Jenkins is reflecting on a moment where she has lost touch with her faith and the purpose of her life. She questions where she misplaced her faith and how she forgot what her life was all about. She then goes on to say that she almost gave up on everything, but she is taking it back again. The line "when did I get so sensible, make me a fool again" indicates that Katherine is asking to be shown that being wise doesn't necessarily mean giving up on other important things in life. She wants to go back to believing in something and being passionate about it.
The chorus of the song encourages us to come and rejoice as what was lost has been found. Katherine is essentially praising the rediscovery of her faith and the realization that her life is now full again. She notes that the road we take in life is not always easy, but somehow we find our way. The song then ends with a repeated chorus that emphasizes the joy of finding what was lost.

Are you kidding me that fact that someone can say anything negative after that miracle makes me mad. It feels so wonderful to listen too! It makes me feel more alive then any other songs I've heard!!! So if you have anything else that's negative to say. Just keep it in your cold hearts...
