Old Time Sake
Kathleen Edwards Lyrics

?Baby come home with me for old time sake?
?Stand by my side and flash me that smile?
?Everybody is out tonight?
So I called you up from god knows where
Would you lie in bed if I were there
Speak soft, just talk I will listen
Like you always do
Follow me down through the streets of the states
Make up a reason not to come for old time sake
Nothing in this town could ever change
Except maybe new lines on your face
So I called you up from god knows where
Would you lie in bed if I were there
Speak soft, just talk I will listen
Don't you dare leave till the morning
Like you always do
In Kathleen Edwards's song Old Time Sake, the singer is trying to reconnect with an old flame. The singer suggests that they should spend time together just like they used to do. The singer wants to relive their memories and enjoy each other's company once again. The singer acknowledges that everybody is out tonight, but they still only want to be with their ex-lover. The singer calls up their ex-lover and asks if they would lie in bed with the singer if they were there. The singer promises to listen and offers their company for the night. The singer pleads with their ex-lover not to leave until the morning as they usually do.
The singer asks their ex-lover to follow them down the streets of their hometown. However, the ex-lover refuses to go with the singer for "old time sake.", hinting that things have changed too much since they last saw each other. The singer acknowledges that nothing in the town could ever change, except maybe the new lines on their ex-lover's face. The singer then reiterates their desire to spend the night with their ex-lover, promising to listen to them and asking them not to leave until morning.
Overall, Old Time Sake is a song about longing for the past, but acknowledging that things have inevitably changed. The singer wants to relive their old memories, but their ex-lover has moved on. The song evokes feelings of nostalgia and regret, as the singer yearns for what used to be.
