She is best known for playing the voice of both Alice, in Disney's Alice in Wonderland and Wendy in Disney's Peter Pan. In addition to playing the voice of Alice and Wendy, Kathryn served as a live-action model for the animators. After Peter Pan, Kathryn went to college, where she earned a teaching credential. She also did the narration as Alice in the Disneyland attraction of the same name. Kathryn continues to use her voice in the animated television series Disney's House of Mouse as well as other specials and video games where either Alice's or Wendy's voice is required, such as the game Kingdom Hearts. She was given the honour of being named a Disney Legend in 1998.

Disney used to base the characters or at least take heavy inspiration from their original VA's back in the day, they would even have the VA's do certain stuff to give real life references for the animators back in the day, as you can see with Kathryn Beaumont doing the movements for Alice.

Back then, you could say the Disney characters were real, because essentially they were!

It never ceases to amaze me how accurately they captured Alice's actress' mannerisms. Lady Tremaine too! I never knew they filmed the tea scene for reference. Seeing even just the stills shows how perfect she was for that role.

Gilbert Gottfried once told an eerie story about meeting Adriana Cosoletti(?) at a convention. He said she was very nice and friendly, but she then broke into the Snow White song. At first he said it was beautiful and fun, but then she proceeded to sing the entire song a capella, while clutching Gilbert’s hand. He recalled it as being very disturbing and a little depressing, how “into it” she was after all those years. 😂

Well, Disney did fuck her career. They basically copy wrote her voice so she could never perform again. She had a handful of uncredited small roles (The bit in the Tin Woodsman's song that says "Wherefore art thou, Romeo?" as an example). She was never credited as Snow White either.

That was her entire career. It was basically the only thing she could be from then on.

It's amazing how much they used live models as reference for the animation back in the day. It's like motion capture but long before that existed.

This also reminded me why I'm always saying "Mustard!" when I mention mustard in conversation. I noticed that I did it but forgot it was from Alice in Wonderland. (Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney movies).

With how Disney used VA's for real life references as well for animation, the older movies had so much life put into them due to it.

Eleanor Audley was basically the real life Lady Tremaine/Maleficent, Kathryn Beaumont as the real life Alice, etc. This is essentially lost when they went 3D animation sadly.

Oh I loved Barbara Luddy and Peggy Lee. Lady and the Tramp was my childhood right there. Peggy’s voice was so suave when she played as Peg. And Barbara Luddy I absolutely loved her voice, even the emotion she expressed scolding Tramp about his past and about how she was humiliated after being taken to the pound. The poor baby was scared half to death, she almost got euthanized like that other dog but lucky the dog catcher found the collar on her and her owners took her home.

Thomas, do you have access to the Disney vault that all of these behind the scenes treasures came from ? The most interesting thing I noticed was that no directors interrupted the actors with a cut !!!! Do that THIS WAY . ACTION !!

I WISH! No I don't have access to the Disney archives, and the reason there's no interruptions, is because for the legit recording sessions like Walt and Louis Prima, I edited the cuts out, and the rest were more staged performances for TV specials and what not so that's why there's no interruptions and do-overs.
