Some Of These Days
Kathy Brier Lyrics

Some of these days
You'll miss me, honey
Some of these days
You're gonna be so lonely
You'll miss my huggin'
You're gonna miss my kissin'
You're gonna miss me, honey
When I'm far away
I feel so lonely, for you only
'Cause you know, honey
You've always had your way
And when you leave me
You know it's gonna grieve me
Gonna miss your big fat mama, your mama
Some of these days
Some of these days
You'll miss me, honey
Some of these days
You're gonna be so lonely
You'll miss my huggin'
You're gonna miss my kissin'
You're gonna miss me, honey
When I'm far away
I feel so lonely, for you only
'Cause you know, honey
You've always had your way
And when you leave me
You know it's gonna grieve me

Gonna miss your big fat mama, your mama
Some of these days

Overall Meaning

In “Some of These Days”, Kathy Brier sings about the consequences of taking one’s partner for granted. The lyrics suggest that the singer has been the one always giving in to the whims of her partner, allowing him to have his way. However, the singer has now decided to leave and in the future, her partner will come to realize and miss what he has lost. The repetition of the phrase “Some of these days” underscores the inevitability of the situation, implying that sooner or later, the partner will feel the loss.

The lyrics also hint at a sense of confidence and satisfaction on the part of the singer. She is aware that her partner’s absence will leave him feeling hollow and lonely. The line, “You’ll miss my huggin', you're gonna miss my kissin', you're gonna miss me, honey” brings out the singer’s confidence in expressing her worth in the relationship. The final verse speaks to the partner’s attachment to his mother, intensifying the emotional fallout of the separation.

Overall, “Some of These Days” is a poignant song about the aftermath of a toxic relationship, and the sorrow and loneliness that often come with its end.

Absolutely wonderful. A great song from the Roaring Twenties, it was Sophie Tucker’s signature song. Boardwalk Empire was one of the very finest series ever on television and I hated to see it end. It was TV at its best.

Kathy really captures Sophie Tucker's style. I also like her singing After You Get What You Want (You Don't Want it).

@lorettat6356

I believe she sings this better than Sophie Tucker.

@argee36

@@lorettat6356 I agree.

@concrete490

@@lorettat6356 I do believe she's singing it they way Georgia Gibbs sang it. Or maybe it just seems that way because their voices and the way they sing are alike. Gibbs and Brier versions definitely sound better in my opinion. By a lot.
