Middle
Katie Herzig Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take one half away
Make one seem the best so the least can have its way
Split yourself down the middle
Make one side the past
You’re left with the future and maybe it will last
Sell all of your burdens
And then say goodbye to the life that got you here
It isn’t as easy as I thought it’d be
Choosing the side that is everything I need
Split yourself down the middle
Take one half away
Make one seem the best so the least can have its way
Split yourself down the middle
Make one side the past
And now it’s the future and baby it’ll last
In Katie Herzig's song, "Middle," the lyrics suggest the idea of splitting oneself down the middle and choosing which half to keep and which to let go. The first verse talks about making one side seem better than the other so that the less desirable side can have its way. This can be interpreted as making sacrifices or compromises, even when it means giving up a part of yourself. The lyrics suggest that by doing so, you can move forward and focus on the brighter future ahead.
The second verse mentions selling burdens and keeping prayers, which can be interpreted as letting go of the weight of past mistakes or regrets and focusing on hope and positivity. Saying goodbye to the life that got you here can be a difficult task, as it means leaving behind some parts of your past and embracing change. The chorus repeats the concept of splitting oneself down the middle and suggesting that the side that is left will be where the future lies.
Overall, the song is about making difficult choices, letting go of the past, and focusing on the future. It suggests that by splitting oneself down the middle and picking the best parts, we can find a way forward.
