Noonan's affinity with jazz shone through the ARIA award winning album, Before Time Could Change Us. Recorded with revered pianist Paul Grabowsky, it captured the breathtaking beauty and emotion which characterises her work. In Noonan's latest album release, Blackbird, she collaborated with an historic ensemble of iconic jazz players including Joe Lovano, Ron Carter, Lewis Nash and John Scofield. Reviewer Murray Black put it succinctly during a reflection on Katie's guest appearance at the Lord Of The Rings Symphony at the Opera House with the SSO:
"The undoubted highlight of the evening was guest vocalist Katie Noonan. Here is a rare talent with a voice of extraordinary beauty and versatility. In most of her solos, she sounded like a classical soprano as she soared over the orchestra with a spine-tingling, vibrato-less angelic purity. Then, in Gollum's Song and the Oscar winning Into the West, she revealed her pop diva credentials with her strong, clear voice projecting effortlessly out in the audience"
"Noonan's soaring, beautifully phrased high notes, ultra-musical communication of meaning and expressive use of the microphone and digitial technologies were stunning."
- Gillian Wills, The Australian (7 March 2008)
"This woman is the whole package. She is not only one of the most versatile singers in the industry, easing her way through rock and jazz and even scaling the heights of opera, but she has the amazing ability to completely rearrange a song yet keep the emotional substance of it."

Katie Noonan & the Captains Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My heart like a steak in plastic
Here I kneel before you,
My hands open to receive you
Plump like a peach,
Your love ripens me my skin wants to glisten
Between your eyes and mine,
Lies a well of beginnings, ablaze of intention
My eyes unzip you as you fall to the floor
I offer all I can here beside you
As the moon falls on the bed,
And I hear you whisper my name
Here we lie receiving the turn,
The turn of page one
Page one
To savour slowly over time,
You are a feast for me alone
You are the sun to my compass,
I gaze beside you and I know
This revolution is ours to start,
As were engorged with freedom
Your eyes unzip me as we peak at the light through the cracks
You sing me through the night,
Sing my through the night til dawn
As the moon falls on the bed,
And I hear you whisper my name
Here we lie receiving the turn,
The turn of page one
Page one
I breathe you in and I bathe in your light
You sing me through the night,
Sing my through the night til dawn
As the moon falls on the bed,
And I hear you whisper my name
Here we lie receiving the turn,
The turn of page one
As the moon falls on the bed,
And I hear you whisper my name
Here we lie receiving the turn,
The turn of page one...

The lyrics of "Page One" by Katie Noonan & the Captains talk about a romantic encounter between two people. The singer is expressing their vulnerability and openness to love, using vivid imagery to describe the experience. The first verse talks about how the singer is offering themselves to their partner, using the metaphor of a piece of meat being put on a plate. The second verse describes the joy and excitement of being with this person, using the metaphor of a peach ripening in the sun. The chorus, "Here we lie receiving the turn, the turn of page one", refers to the idea of starting a new chapter in their lives together.
The bridge is particularly powerful, as it talks about the singer and their partner as equals, revolutionaries who are "engorged with freedom". This is a powerful contrast to the vulnerability expressed earlier in the song. The final verse repeats some of the earlier imagery, describing how the two people are singing each other through the night, and how they are bathing in each other's light. The final repetition of the chorus emphasizes the idea of new beginnings and a fresh start.
Overall, "Page One" is a passionate, poetic love song about new beginnings and taking a chance on love.

Katie Noonan wrote this song as a poem, on a piece of paper at her friends wedding reception where everyone got a piece of paper and had to do something creative with it. She wrote this, gave the poem to them as a gift and turned into a song.

This is one of the greatest songs EVER! Her voice is angelic! the reason this song and artists like this are not known is because its not pop for 13 year olds! record companies dont market music for people over a certain age! Radio plays 14 songs over and over till your sick of them! record companies pay radio to play there artists over and over! Its brainwashing people! like thinking there are only 3 flavors of ice cream! Your not gonna pick rockie road if you never knew it exsisted!

i cant understand why shit music is number one or on the top 10 charts and they are not, a few of some great artists ive come aross and fallen in love with are katie noonan, kate miller-heidke mark willikson, sophie ellis bextor,George plus this band and none of them reach the fame they should get, but in saying this the music industry seems corrupt and i would say that this is a possibility why they do not get heard as much.
