Waking Up in Vegas
Katy Perry Lyrics
You gotta help me out
It's all a blur last night
We need a taxi 'cause you're hung-over and I'm broke
I lost my fake id but you lost the motel key
Spare me your freakin' dirty looks
Now don't blame me
You roll the cash out
And get the hell out of town
Don't be a baby
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Why are these lights so bright
Oh, did we get hitched last night, dressed up like Elvis,
Why, am I wearing your class ring?
Don't call your mother
Cause now we're partners in crime
Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
You got me into this
Information overload, situation lost control
Send out an S.O.S.
And get some cash out
We're gonna tear up the town
Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me
Told me, you told me, you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
That's what you get baby, shake the glitter, shake, shake, shake the glitter
Give me some cash out, baby
Give me some cash out, baby

Katy Perry explained this song to The Sun newspaper: "Vegas gives me that 'what the f--- feeling.' It's really close to LA so one night you could be having a beer with your friends and, when you wake up, you're in Vegas." (Source Waking Up In Vegas Songfacts). The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and went to #1 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart, and the Hot Dance Club Play chart in the Summer of 2009.

Usually not my music but old Katy Perry is my guilty pleasure, this is just a great song honestly.

I miss this whole era in music. It had a different energy. I really think it’s because people weren’t so depressed. This is the remnants of our societal peak in the 90s. It took a while to fizzle out but it’s gone now

This comment made me so sad because it's so brutally true

90s were all about depression. I was a kid during the grunge thing...I was really big into shock rock in the 90s...I loved NIN... this statement makes no sense
