Ironically this album made me a fan of her while people were leaving her during this era, I was drawn by this album more and more.. this record showed the real Katy, not Katy Perry "the superstar" but rather who she really she is from the inside.

This is still the same Katy; the difference is that she didn't have Dr. Luke making her instrumentals anymore because he was accussed of assault by Kesha and are currently in court; Dr. Luke made "Girlfriend" for Avril Lavigne, "Tik Tok" for Kesha, "Wrecking Ball" for Miley Cyrus, and practically all of Katy's #1's except "Firework". He also did "Say So" by Doja Cat and now "Super Freak" by Nicki Minaj is #1.

I'll admit that I jumped on the Katy Perry hate train, but after detaching myself from all the bias and negativity and listened to this album as a blank slate, I realized that it was just very misunderstood. This song is honestly one of her best, and I think she just went about promoting the album wrong. I believe this album opened the door for her to be more herself and I hope now her fans will appreciate her fully and not just wish her to never change.

I dont like how people say witness was a flop. It really wasn't, I heard chained to the rhythm, swish swish, AND bon appetit everywhere in 2017/2018. At least for my area.
Was it a "flop" compared to katy's standards? Yes. There were many factors that it didn't roll out the way it should of. I believe the main reasons witness underperformed is because of her hair (people being sexist and only viewing katy as a sex icon) and the choosing of the singles. As much as I love Hey Hey Hey, it shouldnt have been a single. Roulette or Save as Draft would have been perfect. And possibly switch up the swish swish theme because the basket ball was kind of generic. But i love the message witness was all about. Liberation and being seen.

i don't know if this comment will be seen, appreciated, felt, anything. i need to confess. this song, for me is very special, i will forever relate to it, get goosebumps when i hear it, cry to it. this goes back to my closeted self 5 years ago, when i wanted to be seen, as the song says, i wanted to be understood, but i was taken as a joke, over time that misunderstanding grew into a black hole, which taken the best of me and made me go in really bad spots... but that's in the past. now it's better or i'm trying to be better.

to all the misunderstood people out there, get time to know yourself, i know how you feel. try to connect with people that are good to you, that treat you well, have fun with you, are genuine with you. and if that's not possible, there's time, don't worry, first, fix yourself, call in for some help from your family if they're understanding, if not, try to get in touch with a therapist.

I didn't think much of Katy at first other than just being eye candy when she started years ago, four albums (5) later, my opinion has drastically changed. Katy is an amazing artist. Her music sounds like Nu BossaNova, extremely earthy, like inhaling fresh mountain air. Her music sounds timeless and she's very consistent with her sound. This woman will have a very long successful career.

here is an idea for you , Chris. I would recommend pressing play and allowing the audio waves emanating from your lap top computer to pass through your ear hole barrier and into your mind.
