His career as a musician started in the early 1980's with an album called Steppaillen. The best known composition of Röyhkä's band is called Kauko Röyhkä & Narttu (Kauko Röyhkä & the Bitch).

By the year 2005, Kauko Röyhkä has released over 20 albums. His latest album "Elämä ja Kuolema" (Life and Death) was released 2005. Röyhkä is known as a provocative artist. He has studied literature and written nine novels along with short stories, columns and a biography of pornstar Henry Saari.
