100% correct. Strikeout twice and you are gone for the later innings. I am 36 and this isnt the baseball game I grew up loving. The issues arent so much with the long ball but the amount of changes which these clubs are allowed to have .They have the rule about not stepping out of the box when it was a strike and we can see so many times that the batters stepout

To bring baseball back to its basics, I would recommend the following steps:
1. Move fences back to minimum of 380’ in power alleys (cuts down on cheap home runs)
2. Move pitching rubber back to 62’ (helps batters with 100 mph fastballs)
3. Move strike zone to top of batter’s knee (cuts down on strikeouts)
4. Mandate pine bats only (just my personal wish to go back to traditional bats)
5. After two strikes, third foul ball is a strikeout (force batters to control their swings)
6. Allow limited infield shifts - must be in the infield, no more softball style defense.

The easiest way to fix baseball is to move the fences back. Players will adapt to their swings to the new dimensions. Think of it as moving back the 3 point line

I agree with Michael Key, something wacky has to be done like a player getting replaced after striking out twice or if a two batters strike out that's the end of the inning however I don't think Rob Manfred would entertain that idea because he would rather have pitchers face a minimum of three batters that rule needs to go great video once again!!!

Players today are way too strong. Move the fences back 50 feet. I have been saying what Michael just said for years. Strike out, if it is the first or second out of an inning, and it counts for 2 outs. Hitters have lost the art of putting the ball in play. This idea deserves to gain traction. Would dramatically improve the fan experience.

My idea is three strikes you're out. I mean three strikes whether it's a called third strike, a swinging strike three OR a foul ball strike three. This way the batter knows on two strikes he better make contact. This will make batters much more conscious of the fact they better bear down, shorten up their swing and put the bat on the ball.

I thought about it... Punisher the hitter for striking out is a BAD idea. Because now the pitcher will focus more on the strikeout. There needs to be an incentive for both sides to have quick at-bats...

How about increasing the pace of the offseason. We’re in late December and no major signings still. Analytics has also hurt the game less nerds in baseball. MLB needs to be open minded and pro active when it comes to labor negotiations.

Crazy idea but what if they move the mound back ? ...pitchers are throwing too hard that’s the main issue, that’s why there’s so many walks, K’s and homers because pitchers have evolved so much and made it much harder to make contact so when people make contact it’s coming in so fast that there’s a lot of homers (along with hitters trying to hit homers) but the mound moved back makes it easier to make contact and easier for runners to steal...

they actually thought about it, but the problem wouldn't be solved, because nobody tries to go for contact. They swing the same way with either 0 or 2 strikes. So if they keep on trying to hit homeruns all the time, they will keep on striking out.

Too often we tend to try to fix things that are not really broken. I would suggest to Michael McKay that if he is bored with the game, find another career. Managers and players are paid quite handsomely to play this great game, and should be able to adjust and adapt to the game, if not than they are not worthy of being managers and players. Michael is right about one thing, it’s a really bad idea. I want as much excitement as I can get from these grossly over paid athletes, but I don’t want to destroy the game. Doesn’t make any sense to shorten the game, or play less games so they can get paid all of this money to play even less. If you’re going to shorten the game, shorten to salaries. If the game is boring, hire better managers, coaches, and get more skilled players. “I’m just saying”

I am completely against an incentive to get players to learn how to play the game. It’s up to the organizations to teach it. All it would take is one successful team to win a championship and everyone would follow. The Yankees influenced the A’s Moneyball because of their patience and high on base percentage. Of course it was about more than just getting on base with that late 90s Yankee team, but it had an impact. That can happen again if you can prove how to win. The Royals won a championship because of their bullpen and look at what happened after that. That’s where the focus went and that’s how it goes in the majors. We don’t need some stupid fix like penalizing teams with outs.

I have not looked at the numbers, but if the TV ratings have fallen off it does not follow that the product is no longer pleasing. I have not heard that particular complaint from the fans. I believe it is the presentation, not the product, that is now displeasing. I am telling you, we do not want political or sociological lectures from MLB. We do not want sports also to be sucked into the vile political contests of the day. A very substantial proportion of the fans share my sentiment, I assure you.

When Kate Smith was knocked out of the 7th inning stretch I nearly cut the cord. I gritted my teeth and hung in there, but my respect for the organization was diminished seriously. I thought it showed craven weakness that it could be manipulated by political activists in that way. I have been a loyal fan since the days when Donnie played, and I can tell you at this point, it is uncertain whether I will renew my subscription next year. I'll see how I'm feeling in March, but there is a good chance I'll decide to do without baseball, if MLB continues to lecture at me about politics. I'm sorry I have to break it to you, MLB is not that smart, nor that virtuous.

Right now it’s strikeout, walk homerun. Bring back the stolen base, the hit and run, the sacrifice. Move the fences back and re-heighten the mound. Batters can only put one foot outside the box between pitches. And the media has to take responsibility - SHORTER COMMERCIAL BREAKS. Put advertising on the uniforms if you have to, but cut down the commercials.

Here's an easier way to speed up the game: I'm for putting a box behind the plate eliminating the catcher - the umpire can throw the ball back to the pitcher, that's what he does many times. Eliminate the wild pitch and have the man on base steal bases, easily getting a runner to third, like real quick. The scores will be like football. Just like Michael I'm pretty sure we can come up with some crazy stuff to speed up the game. You want to eliminate the home run? Lets play the game with a whiffle ball, that would be really exciting.
