After college, Kaye moved to New York to pursue music. She played bass and guitar in several Brooklyn bands (including shredding as Slash in an all-girl Guns N’ Roses cover band called ‘Guns N’ Hoses’). In 2014, a mutual friend connected her with San Fermin’s Ellis Ludwig-Leone. Impressed with her voice, he asked her to be San Fermin’s new lead vocalist. This led to five years of collaboration and touring with San Fermin, with Kaye’s blistering frontwoman energy propelling their albums Jackrabbit and Belong to international audiences and festivals worldwide. This included tours supporting alt-J, The National, and St. Vincent.
She released the critically acclaimed album Conscious Control, her first full-length in four years, in November 2020.

another dream where I hurt you over and over
you sleep like a stone
while I sleep with a demon over my bones
we have the same conversations and I spiral around the room
can’t cause you pain any longer, now I know what I gotta do
or i could walk, i could walk away
come on baby kill my doubt
make me want, make me wanna stay
know you’ll hate me right now
and there’s nothing that I can say
swore I’d never let you down
The lyrics to Kaye's song Little Poison describe the internal struggle of the singer as she battles with her love for her partner versus her own personal demons. The opening line, "oh no, another dream where I hurt you over and over," sets the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is haunted by her own thoughts and dreams, which cause her to question her ability to love and be loved.
As the song progresses, the singer realizes that she can no longer cause her partner any pain, and that the best thing she can do is to walk away. She knows that this decision will cause her partner to hate her, and she acknowledges that there is nothing she can say to change this. The line "swore I’d never let you down" highlights the internal conflict that the singer is experiencing - she wants to be able to love her partner fully and without reservation, but her "demon" is preventing her from doing so.
Overall, Little Poison is a powerful song that explores the complexities of love and relationships, and how our own personal demons can impact them. It's a raw and honest portrayal of the struggle that many people face when trying to navigate their own emotions and desires.
